Day 31: Intercom, Morning

Apr 04, 2008 06:14

"I'm so dreadfully sorry," the Head Doctor's voice said apologetically right after the intercom's jingle. "It seems that preparing the schedule and alerting our staff to the changes took a bit longer than we'd originally anticipated. I do hear, however, that all of you had a peaceful breakfast, which I am very happy about!

"In any case, our new schedule is now posted on the bulletin board for all of you to take a look at, and you may certainly ask for your own copy from any member of the staff. I'll still announce what everyone is doing each shift and what we'll be eating, of course, although we're a bit more organized and regimented now. That said, our next activity shift will take place in the relaxing atmosphere of the Patients' Library, where all the patients may read to their heart's desire and where any patient can check out up to two staff-approved books until the next time they visit. Of course, we expect all of you to be reasonably quiet in the Library! If you wish to carry on conversations during this shift, please do so in the Sun Room.

"Hmm... oh, yes! Our doctors will be continuing one-on-one therapy and diagnostic sessions today with selected patients. Nurses, if you'd escort the aforementioned individuals to their assigned doctors? Thank you!

"I believe that's all for today, although I'd like to add that we are looking forward to receiving a new list of possible patients for our roster. You might find some new friends soon.

The Head Doctor hesitated, as if trying to figure out a farewell that he hadn't used before.

"Over and out!"

The intercom clicked off.
