[Sprinting over from here]The dark shape of the shed loomed before them. Ami slowed to a jog, breathing heavily and sweat dripping from forehead. She had the ominous feeling that being in the proximity of the monster was causing the increase in her body temperature ( Read more... )

When they reached the shed Usagi tried not to be distracted by the fight and her worry for their friends.

"There's a lock..." she muttered to Ami. Just more obstacles... Usagi gripped the metal bar Falis had given her with two hands and determinedly swung it at the rusty lock, feeling the vibration from the forceful contact of metal on metal run through her bones. She wiped her sweaty brow-- she didn't know why she felt so feverish, took a second swing and heard the satisfactory clank that meant the lock was busted.

Despite where they were, Ami still felt a little guilty about breaking and entering. She pushed the door open and stepped inside, hands tightly wrapped around the piece of metal she held. It was much darker in here than outside, and Ami hadn't brought her flashlight with her. "Usagi-chan," she whispered. "Have you got your flashlight?"

"Yes-- here!" Usagi replied as she pulled the flashlight back out of her goody bag and put the piece of metal back in.

With the light pointed at the walls Usagi could see exactly what they needed. "Bats!" she exclaimed excitedly, rushing over to the rack of aluminum and wooden bats. She never was any good at baseball, but she always managed to do some damage with a bat-- intentionally or not. Usagi grabbed an aluminum one and gave it a short test swing.

Ami hid a smile at the other girl's excitement, quickly dodging Usagi's swing - you never knew whether the blonde would accidentally let go of the bat. After putting four baseball bats to one side to take with her (two wooden and two aluminium) Ami used the light illuminating the shed to look around for other possible weapons, or anything else that would give them an advantage.

Rummaging through some stacked boxes, she pulled out a volley ball net. This could be useful... Ami wrapped the net up and shoved it into her bag. Maybe later she could cut it into more manageble pieces. She jumped as the walls creaked, and glanced around quickly. Nothing. Stay cautious, Ami, she told herself.

Going to another box, Ami found numerous balls of all sizes. Hefting a baseball, she had an idea. Using one of the faded jerseys, she tied off the arms and bottom of it, and put six baseballs inside. It would make a formidable weapon when swung. Looking around, she said, "Usagi-chan, is there anything else you think we should take?"

Bat in hand Usagi watched Ami as she plundered more useful things, she hoped they could carry everything back with no trouble.

"Umm... let's see..." Usagi didn't see much else in the shed that looked useful, a spider web in the corner made a shiver run down her spine, but something plastic and shiny caught her eye and she walked over to discover helmets. She plopped one of them her head, it wasn't a tiara but she'd been knocked around so much in her one week at Landel's that she didn't care if her armor was fashionable. "Want one?" Usagi picked up a second one and walked over to the door.

Ami couldn't stifle a giggle at the amusing picture Usagi made with her baseball bat and helmet. "It's a little different from our Sailor fukus," she said, grinning. Following Usagi to the door, Ami dropped the makeshift bag from her back to the floor, rearranging it so that she could carry everything easily. She rolled the net up into a tight cylinder shape and placed it at the bottom of the bag, then dropped her first aid equipment in along with the jersey/ball combination, and slid three of the bats down the sides, keeping one of the wooden ones on her.

Lifting the bag and tying it to her back, she found it a fair bit heavier but not too awkward. She smiled at Usagi, taking the helmet from her and securing it on her head, the darkness hiding her blush at how ridiculous she must look. "Thanks. Okay, let's go!"
