[From

It’s almost felt like months since he’d last stepped foot in this part of the building, but now wasn’t exactly the time to reminisce about the good old days. No, his laundry list for the evening was

Jack stopped when he reached the top of the stairs and waited for him companions. There was the sound of fighting from somewhere down the hall, but the immediate area seemed safe enough and relatively deserted for the time being. He took a slight bit of amuse me from shining his flashlight directly into Sasuke's eyes as he came up from the floor below, especially since he didn't seem affected by it at all. Hee.
"Where now?" He arched at eyebrow at Mark, still giving the other man the sense that he was annoyed with him. "You said you had some ideas?"

"I have an idea. Two ideas, actually. Come with me, please."
At least the hallway seemed empty for now; that was good. Ahead he thought he saw someone flying by the light available from the moon, and heading towards it wasn't exactly pleasant, but the two doors he wanted were on either side of this central hallway. They'd go downstairs and risk the swordfight over the flying person if they had to, he resolved.
Though ideally they wouldn't have to risk either. No keys for the second floor yet. He hadn't seen this room marked on any maps, which meant either the Cooking and Arts & Crafts clubs hadn't tried this door yet, or more likely, Hitsugaya's words about no upstairs keys plus a locked door had made the room inaccessible ( ... )

Sasuke wasn't accustomed to being rearguard, but it wasn't anything he couldn't handle. From here all he needed to do was stay alert, anyway, so Sasuke found the wall and leaned against it while the other two tried the door, focusing on any sound that wasn't Mark or John.

Sliding the key in to the keyhole, Jack was suprised to discover that this was, in fact, the right doorway. "Well, I'll be damned." He said, turning the knob. "You did know where to go."
He gave the door a push, letting it crack open, and returned the key to its place in his pocket. What lay on the other side...?

A quick glance around the hallway informed the knight that they were alone - which meant that they would be rather free to continue unhindered. That was both a blessing and a curse for the Black Knight, but he allowed none of his frustration to show through as he continued on through the hallway and slipped into the next.

Brooklyn stumbled along until he'd nearly reached the end of the hallway before setting Vlad down as gently as he could (which was really just not dropping him like a sack of potatoes) and falling to his knees himself, breathing hard. He'd just take a short break here - a breather. Danny didn't seem to be following them yet, but he'd have to be careful going back for the girl...
How'd he have a feeling this would happen? Letting that girl lead him anywhere. Though it wasn't as if she'd done anything to hurt him herself. It was just bad luck, he supposed. He would have to go get her. He couldn't just leave her there.
In a moment...

The human was down, but alive (pretty tough for a human), and Brooklyn wasn't in any better shape himself. Slipping up behind them, she leaned over Brooklyn's shoulder, watching. Poor things, having fought so hard only to end up like this. So typical of humans though, even if they both felt kind of strange at the moment. Still, human emotions, human bodies, and human defeats all around. She felt a little jealous of the ghost-boy now. He'd at least been able to break them, something she'd been wanting to do to someone for a long while.
What to say to them when they were like this? Little girls could still be curious in these kinds of situations, right? "Is he all right, Brooky?" she asked, tilting her head a bit. The shortened name of the other came on a reflex she got when having to act. He would be stuck with it now.

So instead he'd done his best to remain silent while that idiot boy ran off abruptly, from the sounds of it to deal with newcomers. Better they come now than earlier, he supposed, since Daniel seemed to retain enough of his own mind to recall hating Vlad. Horrible, childish brat. As Brooklyn sat him on the ground roughly, jostling him, he grit his teeth and found anger a very suitable pacifier for keeping quiet through pain. A few more testing, rasping breaths, as deep as he could handle despite his ribs. Nothing broken through, blast, they'd all have to live with the consequences ( ... )

Vlad had answered her question for him, so he made no effort to do it himself. He wanted to just lay down, but he had to keep tabs on the other two - see how bad off their injuries were. The older man was at least conscious, even if he was the most badly beaten, and the girl was able to stand again. Both of these things were promising. As far as his own injuries went, the adrenaline rush that had allowed him to get Vlad this far had worn off, leaving him with heavy doubts about being able to move him any further.
But he could put off worrying about that a couple minutes more. "What about you?" he asked Rhode. "You okay?"

It seemed they had reached the end of the hallway. There were some other maggots present, but the Elicoorian didn't bother to pay any attention to them. He paused, waiting for a certain blue-haired fool to catch up with him. Even after the comment he had just made, Fayt was simply that persisting.
Albel glanced into the hallway on his left, noticing the many doors lining the walls. Hopefully, there would be something he could use behind at least one of them. Otherwise, this night would end up being a waste of time. The Elicoorian hated wasting his time, especially when it consisted of nothing but walking through hallways.

At least Albel had stopped complaining. The comment he had made about Albel slowing him down had made no sense, but that was the point. The swordsman couldn't argue back if he had no idea what the hell Fayt was talking about.
Maybe he should start saying stupid things more often. Or maybe not, the resulting silence would probably drive Fayt crazy.
"Are there always this many fights during the night?" he asked as he caught up. He really needed a sword.

Now that the maggot had caught up with him, he quickly headed into the next hallway.
