Day 30: Men's Showers (Third Shift)

Feb 17, 2008 23:46

The lockdown had been interesting. The fact that the staff had enough power to put down a rebellion that quickly and then lock people into their rooms just as fast was something of a feat to be admired. Their efficiency would have been much more impressive if Okita had been on the other side of it, however. As it stood, he had to keep his ( Read more... )

[free to bother]

It was not that Scar minded personal hygiene. In fact, he had always considered it important. The feline never wanted his fur to end up as a collection of sand, dust, twigs, flees and other miscellaneous things. So no, that wasn't the reason for Scar's protests. He outright refused entering a certain damp room as soon as he heard that 'taking showers' involved water. Didn't anyone knew that lions didn't even like water? That Scar didn't like water? What had happened with licking yourself clean?

But in the end, the King's protests had not made any difference. He was simply shoved into the showers while given a piece of cloth and the instruction to clean himself. So now he simply stood in one of the stalls, not sure what to do or even if he wanted to do this.

A few minutes passed, and the feline finally decided that even if he wouldn't end up 'taking a shower', he could always attempt to figure out how this contraption worked. After all, it may come in handy. It took him another few minutes, but he eventually managed to turn one of the knobs.

The next moment made him wish he hadn't. Before Scar knew it, water began raining down from above, instantly soaking him as he attempted to shut the contraption off. Finally succeeding, he took a few moments to recover from the shock. This was just lovely, not only did he just embarrass himself greatly, he was also wet.

[Might I be the one to bother? :D]

Once again, the sorcerer found himself jostled from his room and forced down another hallway to another room. For a prison, Mozenrath mused, they certainly had a lot of miscellaneous activities to keep their captives busy. Pointless activities, but busy ones.

"Cheb, hold up a moment," his nurse said, pulling him aside and out of view. "You can't wear your glove into the shower."

A shower? That's where they were going? "I should think not," he sneered, taking in the gender of his warden. "I'm not interested in doing any such thing with you."

The nurse rolled her eyes and removed his glove with little resistance. Producing a roll of gauze, she coated the skeletal appendage until it was indistinguishable from any other injured (albeit, skinny) arm. "Don't get smart with me, Cheb. I'll be back when you're done."

And that was how Mozenrath had found himself amongst his fellow prisoners, naked and stumbling about in the showers. He tried to position himself so that none of the others present could see his nether regions (he didn't want to appear modest, though it was killing him to be there) or the red hue in his face. These showers seemed straight forward enough-- one turned a knob and the water came out. While he had been aware of showers back home, he didn't believe any of them had looked like the ones he now found himself in. These showers seemed more...advanced.

He peered over at the man next to him. He didn't appear to be particularly happy to be in the showers either, so he ventured a snide, "What, was the water a surprise?"

That could have been expected. Not that Scar welcomed the remark, because making a fool out of himself and getting wet was unpleasant enough as it was.

"No, not at all. Whatever made you conclude such a thing?" he replied dryly, and after a small pause, he added:

"Any other obvious things you wish to share?" Stating the obvious seemed to be a common trait among humans. That, or he had the luck of running into persons who seemed fond of doing so.

The man was of a foul temperament. Mozenrath could appreciate at that, especially since he was none-too-happy to be here either. He put a finger to his lips and "hmm"-ed. "No, not particularly."

"Unless," the sorcerer added, "You would like me to make one. Perhaps about your advanced age?" This man could probably do some severe damage to him with little effort, Mozenrath recognized, but he wasn't one to bite his tongue unless actively in a precarious position.

"Pray tell me, what precisely would you like to say about my 'advanced age', then?" Scar answered. Not that the feline actually cared what this random person thought of his age, but there happened to be a distinct lack of anything interesting to discuss.

Aside from the riot earlier, but no matter how long the subject was discussed, the conclusion would still be the same. Those poor fools hadn't accomplished anything with that reckless act of theirs.

Mozenrath didn't actually have anything to say. He was in a bitter mood and felt as if he had to say something, but it stopped there. Sighing, the youth turned away. "It's not worth it," He replied.

He twisted the knobs one way, just to see the reaction, and discovered the wonders of scalding hot water. It was his turn to look the fool as he stumbled back quickly, cursing in Arabic and trying to swat the water away.

"I see." Scar replied, observing the other patient as he turned the knob. Thanks to his own foolishness, the King could easily predict what would happen next. The human stumbled back while trying to swat the hot water away.

One would think that the King had already served as an example regarding these knobs, or that at least this person understood its basic idea. But not everyone happened to be as gifted as he was, so the former lion supposed such happened to be the case with this unfortunate patient.

"Oh? Did the water come as a surprise?" he remarked nonchalantly. It was rather difficult to resist not to, even if the former lion had bothered with trying it.

Mozenrath glared. "No," he replied dryly. "Just a little warmer than expected."

He had half a mind to stomp over the other man's knobs and twist them so that his smug companion might suffer the same fate, but that would take too much effort and his burned skin throbbed. Maybe the best way to save face would be to leave before he had a chance to look any more foolish, though Scar would undoubtably know better. Mozenrath didn't think the king was particularly slow in the head, after all.

"Of course." Scar answered with a smile while ignoring the glare altogether. Or perhaps he was smiling because of the glare. In any case, this shift had began to grow entertaining after all.

"So, with whom do I have the pleasure of speaking with?" he asked.

Usually, Mozenrath would have bowed and introduced himself with a flourish. However, being naked and embarassed had a way of changing one's behavior. Pausing a moment, the sorcerer placed the skeletal hand over his crotch and held up his other hand, bending over in a slight courtsy. "I am Mozenrath, ruler of the distant Land of the Black Sands."

"...usually, I look a bit more dignified than THIS," he added. "But I suppose that's what incarceration does to a man. And you are?"

Scar couldn't help but to agree with Mozenrath's statement. After all, he himself wasn't in the most dignified situation, either.

"I am Scar, King of the Pride Lands." he answered, bowing his head in a polite manner. As cynical as the feline was, he did knew proper etiquette. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Mozenrath."

So he was speaking with someone of royalty. How remarkable, even despite the fact he had never heard the 'Land of the Black Sands'.

Oh ho, another ruler? Mozenrath could already see a benefit to this new acquaintance. "The Pride Lands, you say? And where is that?" He put a hand to his chin. "And what is it like there?" "Pride Lands" didn't really denote much about the terrain, though there was clearly some reason they had that title.

"It's so nice to meet fellow royalty in this place," he added.

Scar found the human's interest in the Pride Lands rather curious. What could this human possibly want with this information? Besides, the feline happened to be horribly lacking in geographic skills; all he knew was that the Pride Lands lay close to a desert. Beyond there? He didn't have the slightest clue.

"'Where' would be rather difficult to answer, as it would seem the prisoners in here are from various worlds." he answered instead.
