Nightshift 29: M81-M90 Hallway

At least it wasn't far to Keman's.  He knocked on the door a couple of times then waited for a response.  Yes, it would be much better to spend the evening inside and far, far away from anything that might be lurking outside, whether it was in his imagination or not.  And if the conversation got awkward or anything came up, he could ( Read more... )

Xelloss had politely refrained from looking as his roommate had made a quick-change, although he'd wondered where the man got the outfit. Frankly, despite the colors, it somehow reminded him of Amelia and that was the sort of thing no self-respecting Mazoku wanted to be reminded of. So he'd minded his own business on that point and headed out to the hallway, waiting.

And waiting.

After a short period of leaning against a wall with flashlight off, it was becoming faintly worrisome. Well, perhaps his roommate had also gotten some clothes in bright primary colors to change into and was a slower dresser..?

Quatre came out of his room and looked around, frowning. He had his flashlight in his hands. He noticed a figure leaning against the wall, though it was a little ways from his room. He needed information.

"Excuse me?" he asked. "I'm sorry to bother you, but do you know where they take the patients they take from the rooms? I ask because my roommate was taken tonight and he's only a little boy." Admittedly, Phibrizzo appeared not so much younger than Quatre had been when he first got into Sandrock, but the ex-Gundam pilot was worried because his roommate acted so innocent and scared so much. He had tried to help when the nurses had come, but there was little he could do.

Quatre could not see Xelloss very well, and he didn't shine the light directly onto the man, but he hoped that there was at least a little bit of information that could be given to him. He couldn't let them who he thought was just a little child without doing something.

Xelloss was surprised to have someone approach him, but the story the other person shared was even more surprisingly appropriate to his own situation. "A little boy? Oh, dear." Oh, dear. Granted, there were a few others in Landel's who were youthful enough to be described in such a way--but on the same hallway? And Xelloss had not been paying especially close attention, since staring attentively at Lord Hellmaster's room was not exactly inconspicuous, but this man seemed to have come from the right general direction ( ... )

"Maybe I'll meet some others along the way who also want to rescue the ones they've taken, so I was planning on aiding them if I ran into them, but I have to do what I can for him." Quatre didn't know this man was connected to his roommate, but he was thankful for the help.

"Thank you for your information," he said. "Do you know the quickest way to get upstairs?" Quatre and his comrades had really only been concerned with getting outside since they had found themselves here, he hadn't really discovered how to get upstairs. He had his own map from Renji, but perhaps this stranger knew a quicker way.

"Naturally," Xelloss nodded as though he sympathized deeply with Quatre's feelings. "Actually, I have a map. I could help guide you upstairs, but I'm not certain where exactly it would be upstairs once we reached that area." Well, perhaps he'd be filling out parts of his map tonight, if nothing else.

"From here, it would likely be quickest to leave this block of rooms and head down, towards the entrances. There are staircases on either side of that hallway." He'd actually taken that route his first night, with a strange young man who didn't look much older than Hellmaster's own appearance. Nostalgic, in an odd way. Now, to see if this gentleman protested Xelloss inviting himself along...

Quatre bowed his head. "Thank you for your offer, if you are willing to help me then I am very thankful. I have my own map, but if you've already been upstairs it would be better to have a guide." He didn't like the idea of getting someone else in danger, but any help was better than none.

"If we meet up with larger groups, it will be easier, but for now it wouldn't do to travel completely alone!" Xelloss answered in a tone that bordered on cheerful despite himself, and began to head out into the hallways, his flashlight now turned on to help guide them.
