After last night, he hoped they'd feel they owed him that, at least. Not that any of the ones here today realized that.
So when he quietly requested a shower - desperately craving some privacy and a span of time to relax and unwind beneath the flow of hot water - his nurse gave him a long look, then reluctantly agreed.
However, apparently fate was still enjoying tormenting him today, because once he'd shed his clothing in the outer room and stepped into the showers, he realized he wasn't the only one who had thought to escape here. A quiet, regretful laugh slipped past his lips before he could stop it, as he paused and stared at the redhead across the room.
Renji. Of course.

He slowly turned his head to look over his shoulder. Water streamed down his face; his eyes were partly covered by his own hair. But he could see well enough. He could see Daemon. He turned back to face the wall, hands squeezing a little tighter.
For all the teasing he'd handed Artemis about social bathing, Renji really had wanted to be alone. And if not alone, the last person he wanted to be around, naked, right now was Daemon. All that kept him from running away was pride, and the hope that maybe Daemon would want to avoid him just as much.
He rested his forehead against the wall. There was no way, at this point, for his day to get worse.

He pressed his forehead harder against the wall, which hurt. He hoped it would help clear his head, but really, he just had a vague headache on top of everything else.
