With the thought of food fresh in his mind, Allen found himself hurrying along, his mood just a little bit brighter. It seemed like his stomach was always rumbling in this place. The Child could sense people somewhere, but he couldn't see them, and he wanted to know if one of them was Mummy. She had to be close by, she never went far, but he was lost and he needed to find her. She'd told him to stay put, but she'd been gone so long...

The little hairs on the back of Allen's neck rose as he heard the child's voice. He recognized it easily enough, having heard it only a couple nights ago. It was that poor, cursed child! While Allen's heart ached to help the boy, he didn't know what he could do for him. And he knew well enough not to let the child touch him. That had been a mistake he did not wish to repeat.
"That's not good," Allen's voice dropped to a whisper as he felt along the hallway for the door to the men's block. "We have to hurry!"
