Dropping down from Bus 3.]Shana dropped into the darkness from the open window above, keeping her back to the carraige as she waited for her eyes to adjust to the pitch blackness surrounding her. It must have been a cloudy night, for she could make out no stars or moon above. Eerie sounds filled the night and she shivered, not liking the sound of

Gods, all the screaming... Aidou grit his teeth, and moved away from the bus. None of the others had followed, but that didn't concern him--vampires harming humans was one thing he couldn't ignore, however this was beyond him. He had to find his cousin, or at least get control of his own situation. After all, Akatsuki was strong. He'd be fine whether Aidou was with him or not.
As for the others around him, confined to the buses...
Obviously they were outside the Institute, but when the hell had there been dive-bombing birds on the rooftops? Aidou held his shoulder, and risked a glance over his shoulder as the young girl and boy were attacked. The gates leading out of the driveway...
What were the chances he'd find a way to regain his stolen abilities outside of this godforsaken place?

Right now, it was a time to prove himself capable.
Vampire sight wasn't something humans could understand, but Aidou could say with perfect confidence that he saw the growing shadow of the bird within the shadows of the driveway, and as it shrieked at him, he dove back to his right, attempting to take cover by the nearest bus's flank.

The incantation fell quietly from her lips as Momo continued to run toward the institute. Her eyes were fixed on the birdlike monster as it continued its decent upon the patient. It was insulting to have to use the incantation on this binding spell, but as long as the thing worked, she would stuff her pride in her kidou ability until she had more time to dwell on the unpleasant situation.
"Bakudo #1: Sai!" Momo's voice called out as she finished the spell. She felt the energy leave her and she hoped it would act as it should, locking the bird thing's wings behind it and causing it to crash into the ground. Hoped ( ... )

But it hadn't forgotten it's goal.
No, the monster still hungered for the untainted, and already it tried to stand. The massive wings struggled, only needing a few moments before it could escape, a few more moments. It was disoriented and dizzy, ready to strike at any who approached it with beak and claws, all the while writhing, trying to again get up.

Hinamori Momo came and went, and Aidou briefly followed her blood trail with his eyes--no time to consider it at the moment, but whatever she had done, it had seemed to work, for the mottled bird had momentarily lost the ability to control wing function.
No chance to attack in close range; two icicles came into his hand, as long and hard as tanto knives, and while the bird was vulnerable, he aimed for the thrashing head and released them with as much force as possible. Two chances to pierce the skull and hit its brain, where he thought a bird's skull might be weakest.

It was dying, though the creature didn't seem to realize yet. With greater fury it flailed about, heavy wings snapping, talons and beak striking randomly in the air. To approach it, to remain near it now would be nothing more than folly, a needless risk.

With single-minded intention, Aidou moved away from the bus and the bird, both noisy and smelling like rancid blood and death. Akatsuki couldn't be stupid enough to be lingering here, trying to help. Granted, Aidou was well aware his cousin had a softer side in regards to human life, but really. This was a lost cause on all counts. And no doubt, as soon as anyone fled under the roof of the Institute, they'd be just as imprisoned as if they'd never left.
For now, though, he could take better cover against the building's wall before making the decision to remain outside or not. At least the moon was no longer an unearthly crimson.
