Nightshift 28: Bus 2

Sanji was blinking furiously, trying to figure out why he still felt awake though everything was dark. The sedatives, just recently injected into his system, were working full force and he was having difficulty figuring out which way was up and down. All the sounds were reminiscent of something out of a nightmare. Was that what this was

HK watched for a moment, fascinated and bemused as the nurses began to scream when the world went strange. But that was only for a moment, as it quickly became clear what was happening. He was up and out of his seat, over the other meatbag and into the isle, heading straight for the closest nurse near the front of the bus. While he had no weapons, this made him very happy. The killing started early tonight!

SubZero jumped up out of his seat immediately, looking around and trying to determine the best course of action for just a moment. With all these other patients around it could become complicated very quickly.

However, when HK rushed past SubZero decided there was no point in wasting time thinking, so he charged along after the other assassin. HK would be outnumbered, and SubZero was prepared to get anything that tried to gang up on him, as narrow as the isles were, even at the front of the bus and fighting over seats it would be difficult for more than three people to fight at once.

The nurses were ready for attacks. They made no move to come forward, seeing as their prey was headed for them directly. They stood side to side, a changed orderly behind them. They were waiting. One nurse sported needles and syringes across her body, the other, scalpels and small surgical scissors.

HK hated it when he had to chose who to attack first, unable to attack both at once. What he wouldn't give for a good fletchette gun with a nice wide arc of fire! He went for the nurse with the scalpels sticking out of it, dropping down out of immediate striking range and aiming a hard kick at an ankle, using his momentum to add more force to the strike.

When HK dropped down SubZero used the opening, calling upon his ice powers as he reached close range. Ice formed in his hands, spreading out and solidifying into a hard, crystalline blade.

Arm with his icy weapon and with hands that were numb and practically frozen onto his own weapon he slashed it in a wide arc to hit both nurse's midsections while HK was still out of the way of his attack.

The kick connected. The nurse with the scalpel's went down, screaming. It flailed, seeking to cut into HK's flesh, lashing out with its bladed hands.

The ice blade managed to slice open the nurse with the syringes. Green blood leaked out of the wound, noxious and smelling of chemicals.

HK staid down until SubZero's attack had passed over his head, even though it cost him a slash across the leg. He pulled a pen from his pocket (Huzzah for small hard plastic objects!), stabbing at the nurse's neck, then pulled back quickly from the nurse's range.

No, the stylus was not mightier than the lightsaber, but it still was good at poking holes in things.

There was a horrible smell that filled the air after SubZero sliced open the nurse. As HK stabbed his nurse, SubZero stabbed his again as well, with a slightly upward thrust, aiming beneath her ribs and hoping to drive the blade up into her lungs and hopefully lift the nurse up and push her back.

He did not want to get poked by any of the nasty syringes that covered her body.

The pen sank into twisted flesh and more blood poured forth. The nurse reached up to the wound, crying out in pain.

SubZero's strike hit home, plunging up into vital organs and rupturing them. The nurse went down.

It was so funny when meatbags tried to stop bleeding from a major artery by covering it with a hand. Didn't they know that blood pressure and pulse made it nearly impossible to stop it? Silly meatbags! HK had an insane grin on his face, the only facial expression he couldn't completely stifle.

He got up, aiming a kick at the downed nurse's face. If someone were to observe the motion, he looked almost like he was trying to squash some sort of vermin. HK's reply to this would be 'Affirmative: Of course I am!'

SubZero pulled his ice blade out of the nurse and adopted a ready stance, waiting for the large orderly to join the battle and prepared to stop any attack he made.

As much as HK was irritating and hard to deal with, he was at least an intelligent, if insane, warrior.

The kick hit home, the nurse's head exploding in a shower of blood and gore.

HK was still grinning, even though he now had meatbag blood and brains soaking through his socks.

As a general public announcement, he decided to shout "Query: Are there any other deformed medical staff waiting to be destroyed? This unit would be more than happy to facilitate their demise!"

The 'query' from HK just made SubZero roll his eyes. "I'm sure there are plenty beings to be destroyed, HK. Lets just get off this damn bus."

The sooner they got off the bus the better, but from what little he could tell the situation outside wasn't likely to be much better.

There did seem to be a lot more action off the busses now, didn't there? "Statement: Very well, meatbag!" HK stopped and took a moment to wrench a scalpel out of one of the nurse's fingers. Just as the stylus was not mightier than the lightsaber, it was far inferior to a surgical blade. Styluses were only writing implements that dreamed of becoming impaling weapons some day!

Happy with his new tool for furthering the destruction of all meatbag-kind, HK nearly skipped off the bus. Time to kill things!
