Day 28: Bus 2

Nov 20, 2007 18:26

The group hadn't made it to the Twin Pines before the nurses started ushering them back to the buses. Sanji didn't believe the small sack dinner he was handed would make up for the meal they would have had at the restaurant, and aside from that he'd still wanted to check the place out. Now he had no way of comparing it to what they served at the ( Read more... )

Allen was hesitant to return to the bus after the trip. He knew just where it was going to take him and even if the bus was really, really neat, he didn't want to go back to the institute.

On the other hand though, there was food. And he couldn't very well leave the others and try to run off on his own, he reasoned as he sat in his seat, munching happily on the food he'd been given. Besides, Rukia and the others probably had a plan for the night and-

Allen nearly choked on the half of his sandwich he'd stuffed in his mouth. What were they going to do for the night?! He hadn't talked to Rinali about a meeting place or anything! What if she got hurt?! What if they took her and he'd never even know until it was too late! What if Renji and the others needed their help!

Without the message board around to drop notes, he was lost. Had there been anything in town? It was far too late now. He sunk a little lower in his seat and the pace at which he ate slowed, but didn't stop. Maybe he would get lucky and one of the others would wind up on the bus too. Then again, he had such terrible luck...

Terrible luck, indeed! A very large, still somewhat sedated fat man lumbered down the rows, choosing at random to sit next to the tasty looking boy with the white hair. White hair was so rare where he came from, he wondered if it tasted better than normal hair. Normal hair was so grainy and rough and icky and didn't taste as good as the nice and soft and juicy flesh that was underneath it, but sometimes the hair was good because it garnished the tasty flesh and made his meal look more appetizing, although any meal was appetizing so long as they were tasty and yummy and he was oh so very hungry.

He couldn't help it as he sat down. His stomach growled quite loudly and vocally. Still, it didn't matter. He would get to eat sometime soon. Lust would have to let him eat! She had to! He gnawed lightly on the back of the seat in front of him. He could have eaten through it, but it wouldn't be as tasty as warm soft tasty flesh. It didn't have a soul. It couldn't cry.

He was really, really hungry.

Another Akuma? But Allen had no way of knowing if that's really what it was or not. He didn't look like any of the shinigami he'd met so far, but... was he gnawing on the seat?

Allen could relate to hunger pangs easily enough, but even he had his limits! What if the staff got mad at them for destroying their pretty bus! Perhaps he should try to intervene? Didn't the staff bring him food too? Or was his gone already?

He swallowed down the last of his sandwich and tapped the man on the shoulder, "Um... are you... quite alright? I don't... know if that's a good idea..."

Gluttony looked over at the tasty looking boy, feeling very confused by this. Why wouldn't it be a good idea? It was better than eating people, wasn't it? And Gluttony very much liked eating people. "I'm hungry," he whined to the boy. And he meant it. He hadn't gotten to eat anyone in a long time, and the tasty boy looked very tasty. He was all nervous and that would make him taste even yummier when the fear set in.

Though the man was large and strange looking, his voice was small and Allen couldn't help but sympathize with his hunger. He rummaged in his bag lunch/dinner to see if he could share anything that was left.

"Er..." Allen replied. He didn't want to part with the milk, but he held out his cookie. He didn't care much for chocolate anyway. "Did the nurses give you your dinner? Um... here, you can have this, if you want."

Awww, the tasty looking boy was being nice. That'd make him taste even better when Gluttony ate him! He took the cooking and popped it in his mouth. "I ate it already," he said immediately after swallowing the cookie whole. That wasn't tasty at all.

His stomach rumbled loudly in protest. Why couldn't Lust be somewhere to let him know who he could eat?!?! His Lust was on another bus again, wasn't she?

It almost seemed a waste. Had this other boy even tasted that cookie?! He gave a small, almost inaudible sigh. It seemed this other person could be as hungry, maybe even hungrier than he was! "Ah- um... I'm sorry. They don't give us very much here, do they?" It was more a statement than a question. There were few times in this place when he'd really been full and even then he'd still felt unsettled and uneasy.

Gluttony pouted in agreement with Allen. They gave him small amounts of human food which was not so nearly as tasty as the humans they fed it to. Food didn't scream or cry or be dead when it was alive. It had no tasty soul, it only had food. It made him sad.

"They don't let me eat what Lust says I can eat," he said plaintively. Twice he had the little tasty boy in his grasp, and twice the mean nurses pulled him away and gave him the shot that made him feel lightheaded and happy, but still hungry. He was reallyreally hungry now.

Lust? The way he used it made it sound like it was someone's name. But who would be mean enough to name their child Lust?! And for that matter, why would this Lust tell him to eat things that he oughtn't?

"Um," he filled the silence with his own uncertainty, "maybe Lust will take you to the kitchens at night then. I'm sure there'd be plenty there, right?" He turned his head to see the familiar bright red of Renji's hair. Maybe his luck wasn't so terrible. He could still talk to Renji and figure out what to do for the night. That and he was supposed to tell the man about Rhode.

"I um," he started as he moved to stand, "I'm sorry, but there's someone I really need to speak with." He nodded his head politely, "It... it was really nice meeting you. Maybe we can talk another time, ok?" He wasn't sure he wanted to run into the round man again, but maybe he was just having an off day. Who knew? He might be very pleasant. With a weak smile he gave one last nod to the other man and walked carefully down the aisle over to Renji.
