Day 20: Breakfast

Nov 27, 2006 14:08

Scar felt as if he'd passed out as soon as he'd gotten to his bed due to the admittedly strong fatigue and pain that having a badly injured arm tended to cause a person to feel, even one as conditioned and battle-worn as the stern-faced Ishbalan. He woke up feeling rested but regretful, and his fear that he'd wasted a Nightshift ripe with the ( Read more... )

Any hopes that Hikaru might have had that his surreal nighttime experience had only been a dream thoroughly and completely dashed when he was woken--still in that tiny bed, still wearing those awful clothes, still very much without Kaoru, and arm still magically healed--by an overzealous nurse with an annoyingly high-pitched voice who seemed oddly intent upon calling him "Andrew" or "Mister Hill," and refused to answer his questions about where Kaoru was and how much the Host Club was paying her for this ruse (he offered to double it if she'd give him something useful). She did mention, rather cryptically, that James was just down the hall and that he'd see him at breakfast, but Hikaru had pretty much stopped listening to her at that point.

Several minutes later, he was frogmarched into the cafeteria by the now harried-looking nurse and an orderly who looked more like a linebacker in American football than anything else. It was as sterile-looking as the rest of what he'd seen, but at least it smelled inviting. Given the sheer ( ... )

‘I wonder if we can request a get paint job for this place,’ Yazoo thought to himself with a raised eyebrow as he stepped out into the hall and was met by even more white walls. The floor tiles, despite being almost blinding to the eyes, were cool under Yazoo’s feet as he followed his nurse down the hallway and joined everyone else who was currently making the journey to breakfast ( ... )

One moment he was standing there facing whatever that creature was, and the next he was waking up in his bed. Sitting bolt upright, Rufus’ breath caught in his throat, clearly remembering seeing that creature grab two people in that darkness broken only by their wavering flashlight beams. His heart thundered in his chest, confused to say the least. Swinging his feet out of the bed and sliding on his slippers (as if the Shinra heir would ever go about barefoot), Rufus didn’t see the woman at his door at first ( ... )

...and then there were two.

The two silver-haired guys HAD to be related. They may have lacked the generally "twinnish" vibe--plus, the tall one looked to be a few years older--but Hikaru recognized the look on the short kid's face as he went to greet his brother. How many times had he himself worn it?

God, he missed Kaoru.

But then Mr. Tall, Blond, and Disgruntled stormed in. It proved to be a welcome distraction from his own glum feelings--did the Host Club hire these two on purpose, just for that reason?--and he decided to capitalize on it.

"So," Hikaru started, sounding bored. "How much're they paying you?"

Yazoo had just spotted a very familiar, spiky blond head and was staring in utter disgust at the small group in which Cloud was a part of. He had no trouble recognizing the dark-haired female as one of Cloud’s annoying little friends, but he had no idea who the other two people were, even though he felt as if he should who the other woman was.

He was so absorbed in his little one-sided staring contest that he was oblivious to those around him, so much so that he didn’t even notice the person who was approaching him.

“You’re late.”The unexpected voice so close to him jarred Yazoo from his malicious thoughts about Cloud and his brother’s friends, but he caught himself before he showed any outward signs that he had been startled and glanced over at the person who had spoken to him, expecting them to simply be someone whom he didn’t feel like wasting his time on. When his eyes met ones that her identical to his own, however, Yazoo couldn’t help but stand fixated on the spot and simply stare at his little brother in shocked silence ( ... )

Rufus studied the two of them silently for a moment before he moved away from them, snagging an apple on the way. What he wanted was to think clearly for awhile, start figuring out a way around all this.

((OOC: I'll slink Rufus out of here and down below so you all can talk))

Yazoo had spotted Rufus out of the corner of his eye, his eyes narrowing dangerously for a moment in the president’s direction as if silently daring him to try something, but Yazoo’s attention went back to Kadaj in mere seconds and he returned his little brother’s grin with one of his own, and tilted his head just slightly to the side ( ... )

...Or not.

Hikaru pulled a face at the retreating back of the blond guy. He wasn't used to being COMPLETELY IGNORED like that...but he was probably being paid not to talk, anyway.

It was frustrating, but he would deal.

The two silver-haired brothers seemed caught up in their own little reunion (although the shorter younger one seemed...rather bossy, which Hikaru took issue with), and he found himself getting bored with it all rather quickly.

The Host took up his tray and was looking for another available seat when he saw a familiar face.

Oh. Now that was interesting.

[ooc: Hikaru's going to finish his meal over here]

Sometime during the course of Kadaj’s quite long explanation, Yazoo had stopped eating his breakfast so that he could pay full attention to his brother, at first not believing a word of it, but he knew that Kadaj would never lie to him. He nodded his head at the question to show that he had been following along, but didn’t ask any questions right away; instead going back to his plate silently to let everything he had just heard fully sink in.

So they were mental patients. Yazoo didn’t think he would ever be able to accept that, especially if it meant that he was going to be escorted everywhere by one of those annoying nurses, and if Kadaj was telling the truth then there was nothing he could do to stop it. He didn’t like the sound of solitary confinement, shuddering a little at the thought of being separated from Kadaj once again.

He also had trouble believing what his brother had told him about their powers, and his eyes narrowed dangerously at the thought of Mother being kept in a place like this. That answers my question of ( ... )

The more and more he heard about this place called Landel’s, the less and less he liked it. Not knowing where they were and how they got there caused Yazoo to make a small noise in the back of his throat out of frustration. He couldn’t help but feel completely helpless, and that was a feeling that he absolutely despised with a passion ( ... )
