It'd been difficult for Allen to walk a straight line to the shop when there was so much to see in the town. He held open the door for Rinali, then followed her inside.
It did ease his mind a little bit when he read the sign proclaiming "Haircuts-Men, Women, and Children!" At least it wasn't a shop solely for women, as he'd been lead to believe. Still, what was a manicure anyway? Another sign read "Mani and Pedi, Special Price! $18!" Eighteen dollars?! He stared incredulously at the sign. That was... that was just absurdly expensive! If these coupons they had were worth eighteen dollars each they could easily buy railway tickets (first class even!) or maybe persuade one of the locals to help smuggle them out!
He had to wonder just who would pay such an extravagant price just for a beauty treatment. And that was the price of the service on a special! If that was so, how much more was it normally?
Inside the shop, there was a rather potent smell, though he couldn't place it. He'd thought a beauty shop would smell... well... nicer. Like how girls usually smelled nicer than boys. But he supposed that was the least of his worries. He hesitantly approached the woman at the main counter, sliding his ticket across to her.
"Pardon me ma'am," he said as politely as he could, his accent quite apparent. "I hope I don't sound rude, but we were given these coupons and I was wondering, if perhaps we could exchange them for their monetary value? A-ah, I'm sure your services are wonderful, but I don't know that we've much... much need for them." If she wouldn't let them exchange the coupons for a fair price, maybe they could convince one of the villagers to purchase them. They could probably get at least a few dollars, couldn't they?
