So close. So very close. The flashlight-wielding, ponytailed asshole's door was the first one in the hallway. He hadn't seen the guy's tail end on the way here, so a few more steps was all it would take.
It was a good thing that his Majesty's room was only a single hallway away. It meant that he could keep an eye on the man, or at least, catch up with him relatively easily if he ever chose to saunter off. Of course, he had more faith in Peony than that, but one could never be completely confident in their predicaments.
His eyes grazed down upon the room numbers as he made his way down the hall, stopping right in front of room M62 and knocked twice.
Peony was sitting alone in the dark; he hadn't bothered to turn his shine-tube on just yet, and he hadn't finished with his dinner, anyway. Regardless of whether or not it was actually healthy to eat right before bed - like Peony cared - the sudden darkness was kind of annoying. Even so, there wasn't much left on his plate.. just a few green beans, anyway. He guessed he didn't have to eat those..
Leaning up against the wall, his quite loosely bandaged (and quite naked) legs dangling over the edge of the bed, Peony didn't really feel like getting up. Not just yet, anyway. He had to show Jade the gashes on his legs, anyway! It had been somewhat serious this morning, but by now it was back to being a "cool injury" again.
"Halt! Who goes there?" the pantsless emperor shouted. "Cause, uh, evil villains aren't allowed in here, you know," he added for good measure.
It did turn out to be rather convenient that he and the emperor had rooms so close to each other, especially when all of them were supposed to be meeting up like this. As Guy left his and Okita's room and moved out into the hall, he was lucky (or unlucky, depending on how one looked at it) enough to see Jade in front of the door to his right, no doubt waiting for Peony to let him in.
He moved over to the colonel, figuring the man would have already become aware of his presence by now.
"I thought we were meeting at F14?" he started, placing his hands on his hips as he considered the possibilities. Maybe Jade had just come to collect them (or Peony, at least) so there could be a safe escort to the F block. That made the most sense to Guy, at least.
It was common knowledge that Jade had a built-in Guydar to track the blond if he was ever feeling particularly lazy with explaining things, which was nearly all the time. Still, at least the Colonel could entrust the latter with the chore of watching the Emperor whenever he wasn't around. When Guy wandered out of the room next to him, Jade gave him a smile before turning his red-eyed gaze back towards the door.
"Oh, we are. I just came by to bolt Peony's door before we're off." He remarked in that chipper tone that couldn’t possibly lead to anything good. Jade made sure to raise his voice so his Majesty could hear through the door before moving his arm back as if preparing to cast a Fonic Arte.
Peony closed his eyes, though it didn't really do him much good in the pitch black. He was perfectly content resting here, after all, and nothing that Jade would do besides come in would really satisfy him, especially since he was feeling like showing off his cool future scar.
From what he could hear, Guy was out there too. It would figure, since they were next door neighbors and all. He didn't really mind so much, but was he ever going to get his Jade alone?
"I heard that, Jade! Gailaaaardia, you have royal permission to punch the guy..." he called. "Okay, okay, hold on, hold on." After a few seconds of various banging and crashing around - who could say what he was doing, besides making his room even more of an utter mess, as per usual? - before opening the door just enough to poke his head out. "I'm indecent. Gimme a sec, okay?"
Then that royal head disappeared back behind the door.
As usual, it was difficult to tell if Jade was kidding or not. Guy wouldn't put it past him to lock Peony up in his room, especially if he had managed to get himself injured again last night. But weren't they all going to the meeting? Peony wasn't technically a member of Abyss, he supposed, but didn't he count as Yellow or something?
Even with royal permission, Guy didn't make any move toward Jade. If he really was trying to cast a Fonic Arte, he didn't want to be too close.
Then Peony poked his head out and right back in, and Guy was officially confused. He turned to Jade, though continued to keep his distance.
It was a good thing that Guy chose not to uphold his Majesty's wishes, as Jade was always up for a bit of friendly fire if need be. Either way he slowly lowered his hand, chuckling softly to himself when the door opened just wide enough for Peony to slip his head through before closing it again.
"Oh no, it looks like you've managed to come in at the best part." He replied, already turning the knob to his best friend's door and striding right in as if he'd been invited. One can only wonder why exactly the blond was 'indecent' and, like any demented friend, Jade was opt to find out no matter what the circumstances were. After all, it wasn't as if there wasn't anything he hadn't seen already.
Well, of course Peony was only bare-legged, which was a rather strange contrast to the billowing harem pants he usually wore - he wasn't any more naked than that. And while Jade had most definitely seen everything (quite recently in the showers, of course, to name an occasion) that didn't mean he was completely okay with such rapacious men just barging into his room like this
( ... )
Unlike Jade, Guy certainly hadn't seen it all already, and yet he couldn't just wait outside, either. Knowing Jade and Peony, they would just yank him into the room, which would probably be worse than just going along with it.
So Guy, after a slight hesitation, made it inside in time to see Peony pulling on some strange clothing. The helmet he already knew about, but it didn't stop him from looking the emperor over with a raised eyebrow. It was probably best he didn't say anything about it, though - Jade would like take care of that, anyway.
At the question, though, he was quick to respond, pulling his right arm forward to show that he had the bat in hand. "Right here, Your Majesty. And Jade has one for Luke, too, right?" he asked, glancing over at the colonel. Hopefully it hadn't somehow been lost in the complication of the way last night had ended.
As much as Jade disapproved of having Peony set out while he still sustained his injury, he simply didn't have the resources to actually bolt the blond's door shut. In fact, he didn't approve of the latter stepping out of his room at all, but it was a matter he would have to bear with. For now, he had other things to worry about
( ... )
"Fabulous. It's good that you're taking care of my baby," Peony chortled to Guy. He knew it was just a bat, and he had held some of Auldrant's finest weapons in hand, what with the amazing weapon collection he'd amassed over the years, but in this place every weapon seemed to be precious. And cool.
The emperor seemed to be rather put off by Jade's statement - but only for a second, and only in that way that was purely Peony, the flippant, false frown that almost immediately melted into a smile. "Well, if you actually paid any attention to it, you'd see that it's actually very nice armor. It doesn't rip or tear as fast as cotton, and while it's not the latest in Baticul fashion it's a lot hotter than those smiley faces."
"Right. I can lead the way - if anything comes to attack us, Guy can jump in front of me and take care of it. Isn't that right!" Without waiting for confirmation of this, Peony was already out the door.
