NIGHT 27: HALLWAY OUTSIDE OF SUNROOM

[from here]

And there they were: the doors to the Sun Room!

But where was Allen?! Rhode stood at the doors, tapping her foot and looking around. There had been such a gathering here last time, so why wasn't anyone here now? Not that she cared for anyone past her favorite white haired exorcist, but she had still expected to at least find someone ( Read more... )

Albel stopped in the hallway outside of the sun room. He noticed the scum already present, but he ignored them completely. Such silly worms weren't worth wasting his time with, as they'd only slow him down.

From here, he could take several directions. The sun room was boring, so that wasn't an option. He could try the doors opposite of it, or he could go straight ahead.

[from two threads up, double threading so as not to hold Albel up from RPing]

Well fine, the God and demons could go do their own thing for all she cared! Ignoring her and insulting her like that...! She was going to be sure to tell the Earl on them whenever she got home. Except for Hiei, since he'd been a relatively good plaything until the others had shown up, she didn't really care for any in the group. As a whole, they were boring. Rhode hated boring.

That's why the arrival of a new plaything fresh meat another grabbed her attention from the group that had gone and left her. She needed someone to play with. She even more needed someone to just be there for company. Allen still hadn't shown up and waiting alone for much longer was not an option. It would have set her back to thinking on that ghost woman's curse and what it had forced her to think. Rhode did not want to have to deal with that even once more this evening.

The new-comer was much taller compared with the others, Tyki tall, and nearly had Tyki's "not now Rhode, I'm ( ... )

Albel Nox was a natural loner. There were plenty of reasons he wanted to be alone, away from that foolish scum. Last night had ended in one large mess, which only strengthened his resolve, that it would be best if no one got even near him. The anger still lingered; part of it was directed to the ghost wench, part of it directed to Yuber, but most of it was directed to himself. After all, he let it happen. He could blame no one but himself, himself and his own weakness. Like it always had been, the reason his father had died. The weak shouldn't be saved, but no one played by his rules. Not even that stupid maggot, which was exactly why it was better for the him to remain alone. At least no one would be foolish enough to go and save him.

But now that he was alone, his thoughts drifted. The day had provided plenty of distractions in the shape of those useless maggots, but now that he was by himself it took everything to focus on taking a stupid direction instead of making his thoughts drift to things he didn't want to think about. It ( ... )

The grin his words left on Rhode's face was a dangerous one. He hadn't answered her, which would have given her even more of a reason to smile had it been a positive answer, but more than news of Allen Walker's whereabouts could make her smile.

What a mouth this one had?! He was far less reserved about insulting than the other's she'd just had some fun with. Now, some of her victims had been just as vocal about their dislike of her, but that was usually after she had torn off at least one of their limbs. The person before her she had just met, which made it his first time of seeing her as well. People weren't supposed to be so mean with first impressions!

"No, I can't," she answered. He had just gotten there, so she hadn't had the time to look and tell if he had been busy. From where she stood right now, he still didn't look busy. "What are you busy with? Waiting~?"

"That's none of your business, you stupid wench." Albel the Wicked hadn't earned his nickname for nothing. He was hardly known to be friendly, regardless of status, age or gender. Such silly things were irrelevant to the warrior. Only strength mattered.

"Wenchs are only in brothels, silly!" she responded.

Hm... maybe she shouldn't have said that. Knowing what a wench actually was might have been a little too "old" for the little girl she was trying to pass herself off as. Oh well, too late now. It was still possible that he didn't even know what a brothel was (those were only in Japan after all), so maybe she wouldn't get caught on it.

This place was a maze. At least he couldn't say he was lost - he knew where he'd been. But how was he supposed to find Nami in all of this mess? His head was pounding and he rubbed at his temples again. The desire to try and see if any of these people had cigarettes to give was overwhelming, but finding Nami was ultimately more important.

He growled in frustration, turning this way and that for any sign of familiar orange hair. This shouldn't be difficult for him. He was excellent at finding and potentially rescuing people. "NAMI-SWAN!" he called out, not for the first time in the past few minutes.

"Does it matter?!" Albel spat in reply. Hmph, at least this worm was well-informed about the world for her age, he had to give her that.

And suddenly someone had decided to begin shouting. He turned his head into the direction of the shout, seeing some blond maggot heading their way (seriously, why where they always blond?). Crimson eyes narrowed to a dangerous glare before he barked:

"What do you want, you sniveling worm?!"

Albel Nox wasn't in a good mood.

Rhode giggled, "Does it~?" Oh, the fun she was having! He angered so easy it was nearly hysterical! She could bait him endlessly until her Allen finally went and showed up. Or until he went and stormed off like the other group had. Either way, she was getting her fun for the evening already, and she hadn't even seen any blood yet!

She was about to goad him just a little more when someone's over-dramatic shouting caught her off guard. A squeak, followed by a small jump had her attention glued to another tall person, this one with blond hair. She hadn't seen him around either, though the blond was once again reminding her of both Lord Tamaki and Jasdero. Would this one be able to work his way past the idiotic and imbecilic labels the other blonds had?

...was he crying?

She wasn't so sure. His first impression was lacking, to say the least. "Um...?" she blinked up at him, wondering just what was wrong, "you're looking for a swan?"

"Nami," he replied automatically to both their questions. "Beautiful woman, shoulder length light red-brown hair. Eighteen years old. Have you seen her?" His expression had gone from woeful to serious in an instant, brows furrowed as he turned upon them. "One of you has to have seen her and can tell me where to find her. Though," here he spun on Albel, pointing a finger in his face, "if you call me a worm again I'll kick your ass."

Usopp had said that Baroque works had nothing to do with this place, but these two certainly reminded him of some of the single digit duos. Male and female, polar opposites it looked like. Definitely brought back memories.

"If you can't help me I'll just be moving on."

Albel was blissfully unaware of the fact Rhode was entertaining himself with him. "Hmph, if you insist, maggot." Albel replied to the blonde's pathetic treat, his tone obviously mocking Sanji. That stupid worm (sorry, maggot)? Kick his ass? The idea made the Elicoorian nearly burst out in laughter.

Though the finger hovering mere inches in front of his face was irritating. His crimson eyes narrowed at it. "I haven't seen the wench, so stop wasting my time before I bite your stupid finger off."

Rhode looked between the two, first in confusion, then with a smile. The two men were already at each others' throats, which was bound to cause a fight. She'd watched the twins and Skin argue enough to know when a fight was brewing. Not a food fight, but a real fight possibly. That would be fun to watch: humans going at each other because of name calling.

"I haven't seen the Nami Swan," she said, but had a feeling that she wouldn't be heard. Oh, but if she was heard, maybe she could broaden their options, "have you checked the basement?"

All Rhode knew of the basement came from both tonight's and last night's intercom comments and what little Emily had provided for her. She hadn't seen the playground for herself, but the prospect of one still intrigued her. Of course, she didn't want to go in search of the place alone - she had reasons for waiting for Allen to show up - so perhaps she could goad another into leading the way. One of them had to know where the 'door in the kitchen' was, right?

Rhode wasn't heard. Not barely. Sanji was now too focused on the girlish man in front of him that seemed insistent on pressing his buttons. The chef wasn't in a terribly good mood either, and no one called Nami a wench in front of him. That alone was grounds for an ass kicking.

"You shut your mouth!" With a frustrated cry, Sanji pulled his hand away from Albel's face. He followed it up by swinging the opposite foot up towards the side of the man's head. This pest definitely needed to be taken care of first.

Unfortunately for Sanji, Albel had quick reflexes. He ducked, the foot of his new opponent going over his head. The warrior had already grabbed his knife and countered with a thrust at the man's stomach.

If this worm wanted to fight so badly, who was Albel the Wicked to deny him?

Nope, she hadn't been heard at all. Just as well. The ensuing fight looked promising already. The cranky one was fast enough to dodge the maggot's (well, what else was she supposed to call him?) kick, and he had a knife too! The prospect of bloodshed had her waiting in anticipation. She could almost smell it!

Wait, smell it? She could already smell it. But, there wasn't any around.

She started looking around, keeping some attention to the fight, but didn't see that anyone else had caused injury. There was just the thick scent of blood in the air now. Thicker even than some of the battlefields she'd soared over before. She didn't mind the smell at all, but she wondered just what had caused such a spilling of blood for the thickness of the scent.

Sanji's reflexes weren't exactly slow either, and as the kick missed he let its momentum pull him back out of the way of Albel's knife jab. In fact, he fell back completely, maneuvering upside-down into a well known hand-stand. Both legs came up to spin like a propeller back in the other man's direction.

Usopp had said that this place had the effect of weakening people, but this one-armed bastard was nothing. He'd be damned if he let him get in the way of his search for the crew's navigator.
