Nightshift 27: M71 - M80 Hallway

Riddick was out the door as soon as it unlocked, shiv out and partly hidden in his grasp. He sprinted by the other two doors towards the adjoining passage, heading for the hallway containing the room and the man who was his target.

Dinner had passed in relative silence, the majority of the food left untouched upon Kikyo's plate. Every so often he would glance across the room where Kougaiji slept, out like a light. His injuries were heavy, as Kikyo well knew. At least this night, he had been given drugs to keep the pain under control. Maybe he would sleep throughout the night without venturing out into the unknown shadows this realm had to offer. That would be the safest thing to do for one in his condition, though Kougaiji seemed the type who would risk much if he thought it would be necessary.

After his brief meal, Kikyo crawled into bed and caught a passing moment of sleep, fitful and dreamless. When his eyes opened at last, it was already dark, and the air had changed as it usually did at nightfall.

Tonight, he had an appointment. Whether the other would show or not was still unknown, but he would soon find out. He took his flashlight and rose to his feet.

He passed Kougaiji's bed and paused at the door, his fingers curled around the knob as he glanced over at his roommate's sleeping form.

"Good night.." he said softly.

He opened the door and passed through it to the hall outside.
