The Cafeteria followed the same track record as all the other rooms, quiet and seemingly harmless at first glance. Cliff wasn't sure if he should be relived or disappointed so far that he hadn't noticed anything moving in the shadows. Even the tables and chairs had been arranged neatly for the night as if nothing in the world could be wrong and they should feel a little silly for creeping around worried about monsters. Cliff was more or less resolved not to be creeped out until he found a human head in the refrigerator. He'd seen that in a movie once. Creeeepy.
He started across the right side of the Cafeteria with Kurosaki following behind. Joking aside, he couldn't let his guard down just because he was more comfortable now. He paused only briefly at the door halfway across the room. Logically the kitchen should be behind the food counter somewhere, so why were there doors leading off to the side? He had to remember to take a look after they claimed a few things.
Once they made it all the way to the kitchen door, Cliff tried the lock and frowned. 'Try the lock' for Cliff could be translated to 'turned it hard enough to break it off'. Talk about a power downgrade.
"'Probably stuck." He drew back from the door, nailing it just above the lock with a fluid side kick. The soft grunt that followed could have been surprise. It took three - three - more kicks in quick succession before he tried the lock again. It didn't so much open as fall apart in his hands. Ok, maybe that was a little much.
If the noise they'd caused already hadn't woken anything yet, there wasn't anything to worry about. Cliff slipped through the door, fingering the wall for a light switch of some kind. It was a bit of a hopeless endeavour. "Lets get to it. I could really use a sandwich about now..."
