((Coming from here.))This was the far end of the institute. Caim eyed the area around him, not seeing anything ... yet. Who knew if there was another enemy like the one in the sun room waiting just around the corner ( Read more... )

Javert gestured briefly at the stairwell as he and St. Just approached. "These should take us close to the hallway where Trevelyan and I were last night."

Armand nodded. "I hate the unknown," he muttered. But there was nothing for it but to go on up. He shone his light ahead and picked his steps carefully.

Javert's lips quirked upward in a half-smirk at that, but he said nothing, only heading upwards.

It looked like he’d reached the end of the hallway. There was a staircase here, one that presumably led to the second floor.

Before climbing the stairs, Siegfried checked behind him. Whatever had been in the Sun Room was making him feel unnecessarily cautious.

When they came out into the first floor hallway, Aidou knew he'd made the right choice to come back - by the time they got to the cell blocks, the night would be over. And he couldn't even be too upset over it; there was a part of him that was concerned over what would happen should he keep going. As with Agni's paralyzing agent, who knew what long term effects this thing had.

He sighed, and shifted, looking to Bella. "Guess we'll be together until night ends; sorry to disappoint you if you wanted company in a better mood."

Bella shook her head slightly, letting out a soft laugh at Aidou's comment. "Don't worry about it. I'm just sorry I was so much trouble." Flashing him an embarrassed smile, she turned her gaze away from his face so she could turn and look into the looming darkness. How depressing, she thought bitterly to herself, a soft sigh escaping her lips afterwards, to be stuck in somewhere for such a long time.

After a few moments of silence, Bella turned back to Aidou and quirked an eyebrow, a curious look crossing her face. "You know, you never told me how old you really were. It's not like you're actually thirty or something, right?"

What was all this obsession with exact ages all of a sudden? It wasn't something commonly exhibited with humans, since they typically believed there was only one numbering system in the world when it came to age.

There was no mood for sport tonight, so he just said, "How could I be that old? People wish for my looks, or so I was told quite recently. I'm eighteen," he said simply, reiterating her own words from before. Of course, it was a most blatant lie, as he was not eighteen by his own standards, and far past eighteen in hers, but who would ever know but another vampire? And it was only him.

Irony was so bitter.

He started moving down the hallway. The sun was coming, and he really didn't know what else to do but talk. His mind was no longer a safe place. "And for your information, there are plenty of other people in your position. You'll learn that quickly enough. The number of competent fighters is minuscule."

Shrugging her shoulders, Bella turned away from Aidou once again, a frown on her face. “Well, you hadn’t told me straight out, so I was just guessing.” Though, she didn’t know if she should have felt happy over the fact that he was eighteen, because chances were he was still younger than her, and … well, that just wasn’t awesome.

Obviously she had a problem with age, but she didn’t tell him about it.

The hallway was getting a bit lighter, much to her delight, and she looked down at the pipe in her hand and nodded her head in agreement to Aidou’s comment. “Well, that’s good at least. I’ll learn on my own.”
