Nightshift 26: M31-40 Hallway

It was rather fortunate that he was placed so close to his ally’s location, and he found it more of just a matter of playing a waiting game as he silently marched down the hallway

If even Luffy felt it...

"We'll just go straight to the kitchen, get what we want, and come back to the rooms," Usopp announced, as much to reassure himself as to set out their plan for the evening. He reached out for the treasure, and began to investigate it more closely than he'd been able to last night. "We'll come back with food and drinks, and we can have a party while I work on some new weapons. You can get to know Sai better too." If Sai were still waiting in his room for them, at least. Usopp hoped so--the bandanna he'd made for Sai was tucked in his coat, along with the spare bandannas/possible facemasks.

After looking over the device for some time, Usopp unscrewed the gas cap. The astringent scent from inside was a bit intoxicating, for reasons beyond the brain-killing fumes. Gasoline was powerful. Even if he had no use for soldering--and oh, did he have uses for soldering--the gasoline would be wonderful to have. But for now, he screwed the cap back on.

"Let's get this to my room, and then head out." Would it be safe in his room? Well, he'd hide it especially well, and not in the closet as usual. That should help.

"A party!" Luffy repeated, pumping a fist into the air, as if previous thoughts about the heavy air were forgotten. "Oh yeah!" He wondered if they had any senbei for a good old senbei party. It seemed like ages since he'd had a proper one, and Usopp was always the best person to have them with.

He was so excited about all that, that he'd almost missed the prospect of new weapons altogether. Though he had to admit that getting metal for swords was as high a priority for him as food was. Well, almost, anyway.

Grabbing his pan, Luffy stood up from his bed, stretching a little. Who knew what kinds of monsters they'd face tonight! Better be prepared.

"Let's go to your room!" the pirate announced, and he made his way out towards the hall, brimming with confidence for someone who had no idea where said room was.

M33, then to hallway again

"We'll look for senbei while we're there," Usopp added, thinking along the same lines as Luffy. They'd need extras, for Sai, assuming the ninja liked senbei. If not, maybe they could get something different. Apples? They wouldn't crunch very satisfyingly for 'toasts,' though.

In his room, Usopp wrapped the soldering iron up in some shirt remnants, then hid it at the corner under his bed furthest from the door. That ought to keep it safe, hopefully.

Stepping back out into the hallway, Usopp took the lead, as he remembered where Sai's room was. If Luffy hadn't fallen asleep halfway, he might have remembered too... or then again, maybe not. Luffy's memory could be funny sometimes. "Sai's room is in the block just north of here, it's not far."

Luffy was glad that the treasure was in Usopp's room once and for all. Hopefully his friend had done a good job hiding it so the Cat Ladies wouldn't find it, though he certainly had faith in Usopp's abilities. It'd probably be about as safe as it had been when it was in his room, and they still had the thing after it been left alone all day, right?

"North, north, north..." he muttered, and he wet his finger in his mouth for a moment before bringing it up into the air. "Hmm, the air feels colder this way, so..." He turned towards a random direction, using that as the only logic to dictate his movement.

"Sai must be this way!"

Realistically, it would be very cruel to expect Luffy to find Sai's room from verbal instructions. After all, not only was it in a cardinal direction (which Luffy seemed to think he could sense via temperature) but they would have to defy all logic and move south first, something which would probably confuse Luffy further. If there was anything Usopp could feel confident about when compared to his comrades, it was his sense of direction.

... except for Nami. Right.

The path was familiar enough that he didn't need to look at the maps in his note book as he put hands on Luffy's shoulders, turned him around, and marched him down towards the exit of this housing block.
