She hadn't appreciated being forced to move when she was so comfortable in the Games Room, but the nurses just wouldn't take no for an answer. Once back in her room, Rangiku sighed softly and flopped down on her bed. For once, the other bed was empty suggesting that her roommate was awake finally.

The meal was delivered and she pulled the tray onto her lap, starting in on the food. She hadn't eaten as much as she'd have liked during the day. Lunch and breakfast had been distracting, although she'd met a couple more people.

Walking into the cafeteria, Elphaba was surprised to see it quite empty. A nurse came up quietly beside her, and mentioned that dinner was in the rooms. She took Elphaba gently by the arm, her touch gentle, though the grip was iron-hard, and nearly as cold. Elphaba muttered responses to the nurse's inquiries about dinner, and after gently refusing the steak a few times, begrudgingly accepted that the nurse would not take no for an answer. Perhaps her mysterious roommate would want it.

Arriving at the room, Elphaba was startled to see another individual in the room. She'd seen the girl around during the day, but with so many others around, Elphaba hadn't seen the need to waste time trying to find her roommate.

The nurse left her just inside the door, closing it with a small click. Elphaba stood, rather stiffly, and coughed shortly to get the girl's attention.

"I am Elphaba, and whom might you be?"

Rangiku looked up when the door opened, finally getting a good look at her roommate. Seemed a little stern maybe, but Rangiku could deal with that. The shinigami set her tray aside and stood, offering the other woman a polite bow and a cheerful smile.

"Matsumoto Rangiku. Rangiku is fine. Pleased to meet you."

[No knives beyond the normal plastic ones, I'm afraid. They've just cut up the steak beforehand.]

With her roommate settled and her own food very much finished (she was still hungry all the time which meant reiatsu was still being produced. A comfort although a little frustrating), Rangiku reached out to grab her notebook, flicking it open to an empty page and pulling out the map she had been making. She'd need to see if anything had been added from what other people had found in the morning.

She looked up when Elphaba spoke shrugging elegantly. "I've no problems with it, although if you want to pass it over here, I could use the extra energy." And she hated food being wasted.

She finished off the map and tore it out, marking out details about the monsters that people had mentioned on the back. With that done, she held the map out for Elphaba. "Map of everything the Arts and Crafts groups have seen, plus details about whatever monsters are around that people have seen."

Elphaba exchanged the plate for the map, and took a look. The grounds were quite extensive it seemed.

"They'd mentioned earlier of a basement, yet I don't see any stairs leading to such a level..."

She turned over the map to look at the beasts described, a few she recognized, many she did not. "These have all been spotted here?" she inquired. It seemed the Wizard and her captors were working far beyond what she considered their level of expertise and security. No matter, nothing biological was without its weak points.

She handed the map back to Rangiku.

Rangiku smiled gratefully and started in on the extra food. The hunger since she'd become a shinigami had never become so bad as she'd felt it before, but it still wasn't a pleasant feeling. She intended to eat her fill while she was here ( ... )

Elphaba was shocked. Information was usually something hoarded, passed to only the few required to know the plan, or survive the ordeal. Then again, she supposed that many within these walls were intending on surviving. She hadn't met anyone particularly useless, excepting the boy, but given Lyta's mutterings, perhaps there was more to Clark than was readily apparent. In any case, if Rangiku was going to be giving so much information freely, perhaps it'd be best to continue learning.

She grabbed the alchemist's torch and the box with the dials on it, and queried her roommate, "What are these?"

[ooc: the torch is a flashlight, and the box would be the radio]

Well, it was hardly like she was passing over the secrets to the Gotei 13 or anything. Both things could could be found out with a few nights work and a look at the bulletin. And Elphaba was obviously new since Rangiku hadn't seen her around before today.

She glanced at the items. "A flashlight and a radio. Press the button on the top of the flashlight and if you switch the radio on, there's a man who speaks from it sometimes at night. He mainly taunts the Head Doctor but sometimes offers clues about where to find things. I wouldn't trust him as far as I can throw him, but it can be useful."

"I figured out the flashlight," Elphaba protested, trying to prove she wasn't an idiot. It wasn't as though these were common items where she came from, after all.

She sat for a while in silence, and when the intercom played it's first two messages and then the lights shut off and the doors clicked open, Elphaba wished for a moment that she was surprised.

In any case, Elphaba now had a map, a method of lighting her way/attracting beasts to her presence, and apparently a method of obtaining clues to further information.

When the radio clicked on, she nearly dropped it. She listened to the words of the announcer, and decided that, until she found a better method of defending herself, an object which could turn on and cause loud noises of its own accord would not be wise to bring along.

"Happy hunting," she said to her roommate as she put on her jacket and outdoor slippers, pocketed the flashlight, and headed out into the darkness.
