Nightshift 25: Hallway outside of F & M Blocks

[[ from here ]]The darkness was almost tangible, which was entirely likely considering the numerous laws of physics and general order that the Institute broke. There was hardly time to consider the idea. There wasn't even time to watch where she was going. No, there was only time to close her eyes and let her feet guide her down the path she would ( Read more... )

There was no roommate in George's room. Which, while pleasant in the lack of unexpected sights way, kinda bummed her out a little. No roommate meant no conversation, and while George was okay with that… well, it's not like this room had a tv for her to stare blankly at into the night and lose what chance at sleep she would get. Not like she slept much anyway.

So, braving the night and the loose psychopaths that came with it, George gave a resounding "fuck" of annoyance, grabbed her flashlight from under her pillow, and headed on out.

Needless to say, she stuck to what she knew. If someone comes at you, bean 'em with your flashlight. If that doesn't work, bolt. Or kick 'em in the nuts, one should do. A combination of all three didn't sound so bad either.

You know, if George wasn't used dealing with death all the time and well, being dead herself, one would think she'd be more frightened at being pounced on and bitten. As crazy and okay, kinda cute the guy seemed to be, he just bit her and knocked her to the floor! And yeah, she knew it would heal in record speed but damn it, it hurt!

"Ah- Fucker!" Hurt and particularly annoyed, George swung her flashlight with as much strength she could muster and kicked her legs at him with a complimentary squirm in the direction of 'out from underneath the apparent cannibal'. "Will you- ow, Jesus! Get off me!"

When she got back home, she'd be damned if she had to do any of the hard jobs. After this, Daisy was gonna do.. what the fuck ever chore around the house and feed her frog. George needed a damn medal for going through this bullshit.

(From hereKnife out in his left hand, Valyn had followed the sound of magic through a surprisingly short number of hallways. From how faint it had been, he'd expected it to have been further away. He had wanted to run, but his injuries from the night before - now bandaged - had slowed him down ( ... )

"Jesus!" Okay, this blowed. It looked like the creep would get away with yet another bite of Fillet-o-Reaper before it felt like some bolt of lightning went through the guy and zapped her too. Not that it looked like it would hurt her half as bad as it would him. Still.

Throwing caution to the wind, as well as the question "what the fuck just happened and how the hell is it lightning indoors", George also threw her leg forward again in hopes of hitting someplace her would-be eater really wouldn't like. "You prick, I said get off!"

With all the new distractions around, who would care if she pulled herself away from the crazy bastard and hauled ass?

((From here. One thing caught Roland's attention more than anything else, nowadays. That one thing was electricity, pure and simple. It called out to him now, the crackle of lightning was like the strains of a familiar tune, the scent of ozone was like the smell of home. That was simply the way it was now, and hearing and feeling a discharge so soon was enough to draw Roland's attention ( ... )

Valyn was in no way stupid. Naive, perhaps, and idealistic, but not at all stupid.

This new arrival knew what Valyn was certain was an attacker. And, from what he could see, not a normal human. This place truly was mad. But the important thing, considering the new fight - which looked rather evenly balanced - was the bleeding human girl that Keman was attempting to look after.

Keman, who's presence Valyn would question later, who didn't look as though he were doing well himself. He trotted over in time to catch the dragon's words.

"Lady Raine," he said, without bothering with words of greeting first. He had no reason to believe his mere existence would cause the dragon any confusion. "She's a healer. I don't know her room number, but if we move to the women's barracks we may be able to find her. Ah, hello, Keman. I'd say I was glad to see you, but considering the circumstances..." The Elven Lord's expression was as blank and closed as always. "My lady, can you walk?"

Eugh. The stinging hurt that whacked her brain when she touched the bite mark proved only one thing - that fucker had teeth. If it wasn't for the fact that she'd gotten away and the guy was already distracted? She'd kick him where hurt again. In fact, since he wasn’t paying attention…

Buuut then there were the other guys. George turned to them, only to shake her head with a smile at their concern. "No, it's okay. I'm," goddamn, did that look nasty. She poked it again. "I'm fine." She would be, really. Nothing that wouldn't heal in about a minute. Speaking of, she should probably cover it up until it did. Hand now covering the wound, she offered another smile. "Thanks, though…"

George wasn't gonna stick around for them to find out she wasn't human, nor for her to find out the two were old friends reunited or some sappy shit like that. Giving one more glance behind her to the psycho who bit her and his boyfriend, the Reaper hobbled off and deeper into the asylum's abyss.

While Roland was all for getting the wounded out while someone else distracted the flesh-eating monster person, normally he had at least some kind of backup. A company of men with automatic weapons, some other demons... anything. Fighting alone was not exactly the best course of action ( ... )

"Keman, I can hardly understand you," Valyn said, his tone slightly pedantic and chastizing. Really, what was wrong with the dragon? "We'll talk later." Now wasn't the time or place to get into anything.

"And I'm afraid that isn't nothing and you aren't fine." He turned his attention to the young woman. "You need healing. And we should remove ourselves from this area immediately anyway."

He didn't know who either of those men were, but.... well, it was best to move elsewhere.

"Come on." He held his hand out to the wounded girl, to help her. But she'd gone, ignoring their offers.

"Well." He set his lips and shook his head. Oh ancestors. Had Keman just passed out. "I suppose we should do the same. Are you still with us?" Biting back a sigh, Valyn leaned down to help the dragon up.
