Nightshift 24: Hallway Outside M81-120

[from here]

At this point, Aidou didn't care if D wandered away. Now that his one good meal was wasted - little more than fuel for his body to try and heal his injury as swiftly as possible - Aidou was pretty much expecting the sky to come down on his head. It was turning out to be that sort of day.

Aidou stopped once he was a comfortable distance into the hallway, his steps starting to waver ever so slightly. He put his uninjured shoulder to the wall. Just for a second... D wasn't the only one tired for no good reason. Well, Aidou did have a reason, many reasons: mostly they involved little sleep and an unexplained power repression. Not to mention unthinkingly attacking a monster of unknown origin, when he could have just let D get hit.

It felt like burnout, but more aggravating. It was only obstinacy that kept Aidou from spreading out on the ground and whining his face off. In another time and place, maybe.

count d, aidou
