Recluse peered into the darkness above before starting up the stairs. The fight with that prisoner had relieved a lot of tension. He'd won, and quite decisively. But now wasn't the time to let that blind him.

After all, he had told a pawn of his years ago- "Don't gloat about your victories until you've won the war." Maybe he should ( Read more... )

This hall was getting to be crowded.

Riku stepped up, vaguely concerned that so many others had decided to come this route. It did make sense however, it was right beside the "patient's" quarters; which was also the reason he came back. But the stairwell was becoming crowded without any hopes of becoming less so.

And also, there was the scent of something alarming in the air, bitter, stinging, enough to make Riku wince. Must have been due to those senses of his, they certainly made things difficult at times. Unfortunately, if he was catching it at this distance, he likely shouldn't have moved closer. When did he ever listen to thoughts such as those before though?

Riku ignored the man as well as the two women and he rolled his flashlight up to try and locate whatever was the origin of the odor. It didn't take long before a slight cloud of something came into his view, lurking over two others. Invisibility? He'd fought monsters like those before, but he wasn't willing to wait until this one turned tangible to rush in. Still, all this fight dodging was beginning to wear on his nerves. If he encountered something else, then he'd stick around to do more than play spectator.

As it was, Riku played with the idea of finding another path. He wasn't set on this one and he didn't have a destination, so altering his course wouldn't seem to off. At the same time, it seemed to be cowardly to avert his course for one monster. Then again, if he were to 'choose his battles,' it was the best action.

Eventually Riku just headed up, however if the creature decided to come after him, he could come back.
