Night 60: Disciplinary Therapy Room 1 [M-U for Makunouchi Ippo]
When it came to the survival of the fittest, strength wasn't the only important factor, but it couldn't be underestimated, either. Unfortunately, a person's natural body could only go so far. But at least humankind had science to help make up the difference.
Makunouchi Ippo certainly possessed the ability to become a formidable opponent in a life-or-death situation, but he lacked the spine necessary to become a truly brutal fighter outside of the boxing ring. Of course, as much as the doctor would have loved to try fixing that particular flaw, apparently the higher-ups thought enough time spent here would help rectify that. Instead, his task for tonight was to toughen him up in a different, more tangible way. In fact, the doctor could safely say that Ippo would be a new man by the end of tonight.
Not that he was complaining. He'd been given enough interesting toys for this experiment, and the doctor had to admit he was intrigued to see how they worked.
His back faced Ippo as he gathered his materials and tools. There wasn't much for him to observe at the moment, as the boy was still sedated. A gas mask covered his nose for now, pumping nitrous oxide into his body. Although the doctor certainly didn't care about Ippo's comfort, the gas was necessary for keeping him stable during the early stages of the procedure.
After that, the doctor thought with a small curve of his mouth, all bets were off.
