Night 60: M31-M40 Hallway

Dec 18, 2011 21:10

Dinner had passed by quietly due to the fact that Stefan had hardly said a word to him before collapsing into his bed. Castiel hadn't known what to make of that, as he'd not often seen a human that afflicted with exhaustion. However, Stefan had made implications, whether he'd meant to or not, that he was something else. Castiel wasn't able to sense it due to being so dampened, but it was possible that his roommate was suffering due to something related to what he was.

While he could have remained at Stefan's side in the event that there truly was a problem and he might become a danger to others, Castiel did not have the luxury to waste his night in such a way. From what he could tell, Stefan was in a deep sleep, not likely to wake up until morning.

In the end, he had to put more effort into listening to Martin Landel's words. While the man said that he would never again allow them to regain their abilities, Castiel seriously doubted that. An angel could only remain caged for so long.

The mention of "her" was clearly a reference to Lydia Thayer, and Castiel felt that he had at least played some part in making certain that that woman escaped the man's hold. It was something he'd been led into by chance rather than his own actions, but he was still glad to have contributed that small amount. Now he would just need to find a way to repeat her and Claude Prescott's actions.

In any case, Landel's announcement served as a challenge more than anything else, and Castiel wasn't about to waste any time. He gave one last glance in Stefan's direction before gathering his things: the flashlight, the radio, and his newly-regained angel blade. He was about to step out of the room when he realized that he might be going outside. It was clearly winter here, which meant that his body was going to be vulnerable to the cold. While he didn't like giving in to the demands of a human form, there wasn't much else he could do. If he was too cold to function properly, it would detract from his effectiveness.

Castiel opened the closet in search of the coat there, but what he found was something entirely different. The tan-colored trenchcoat, along with the suit and tie, were hanging innocently on a hanger. It gave him pause for a moment -- was this some sort of reward? -- and he had to take a moment to decide whether or not it was worth taking the time to put it on. He wasn't used to having to don clothing like a human and it would count as a waste of time, and yet the idea of wearing something that was closer to his own, rather than the institute's attire, was appealing.

He needed to dress for the cold anyway, and that was what decided it for him. Castiel changed as quickly as he could before regathering his items and heading out the door.
