Even as dinner had passed, Lunge hadn't budged. Harvey knew that that couldn't be a good thing, but it wasn't his business to babysit the guy anyway. It was going to be a hassle if Lunge ended up disappearing, seeing how he'd have to go through the same old song and dance of meeting a new roommate, but he'd make sure that people knew if it happened

Maybe the change in power also meant no one would be sent on anymore horrible military missions, but Claude knew he couldn't hold his breath. When he remembered what they'd made his mother do, his blood boiled.
Thoughts of his mom did little to lift his mood, unfortunately. No matter what he'd tried to tell her, she'd sounded intent on going to the basement. Claude was still at a loss as to what he should do in order to prevent her from venturing there. She had a point about the children she'd been accompanying, but wasn't there some way to stop them too?
On the other hand, Claude knew how difficult it could be to travel through the institute's dangers and make it beyond the kitchen in time to do anything productive. He'd experienced set-back after frustrating set-back during his own explorations. Maybe it was selfish of him, but he hoped night ended before they ever made it past the cafeteria again.
Holding onto that grim hope, Claude gathered the last of his things, told his roommate to be careful, and stepped out into the hallway.
