Night 60: M61-M70 Hallway

Dec 18, 2011 13:41

Having a more or less normal conversation with Okita again was nice, Guy had to admit. It meant that even though both of them had been through some pretty horrific stuff, they could still bounce back and deal with things as they came. He could only hope that now that both of them had died and come back to life that they were pretty much off of ( Read more... )

While dinner had not been particularly enticing, that had been easily overlooked in the face of finding his own clothes in the closet when he went to retrieve the cigarettes and his sword.

Why he'd apparently been given this bit of his real life back, he couldn't say, but he was grateful to have it. He changed quickly, stashing the cigarettes, lighter, and a few other items in his sleeves before slipping the sword through his hakama ties and heading for the door.

In his room, Okita wished Guy a safe trip as he always did and watched as his roommate left. Guy seemed to be digging further into the Institute than anyone else he knew and Okita had a sinking suspicion it had to do with what went on down below. Everyone who headed below warned against it and yet how else were they supposed to move forward? Access to the third floor still hadn't been uncovered and that only left moving out onto the grounds as Yuffie had, or going below like Guy ( ... )

He was nearly to the door when he heard the knock and Souji's voice on the other side. He scowled a little, wondering if the younger man was just that eager to continue teasing him, or if it was simply that whatever he'd wanted to speak about was that important.

Well, he'd find out in a moment, anyway. With as sigh, he pulled open the door. "I was just on my way over."

He heard the sigh and took a step back, tucking his hands behind his back and shifting the rings into his palms as he did so. The door opened and Okita was about to thrust his hands forward, making a joke about early birds and worms when he caught sight of what Hijikata was wearing. Well. It seemed he was no longer the only one here who was running around comfortable anymore. With a smile, he tilted his head slightly to one side.

"I see you got a present. It's nice to be in something comfortable, yes?" Nice, even if it had come from their captors - which somewhat spoiled the idea of it being a gift. Okita hadn't refused his, evident by his strict adherence to uniform on nights when he was on a mission, but it still left a strange taste in his mouth. "I'm here to give you another one."

Now he put his hands forward, both of them at once, balled into fists. "Choose one~"

Landel-san's announcement disturbed the relative silence of dinner, though its contents did little to improve Seishin's opinion of the institute. The novelist couldn't quite decide which of the two was the lesser of two evils, provided that there was a difference to begin with. Perhaps the treatment by the nurses today had been more humiliating, something that had even made its way into the head doctor's smug words as he spoke. There was the distinct mocking tone, as though they were his little playthings to do with whatever he pleased. At the very least there was no pretention of being treated as 'equals' that the military had held up, giving them the illusion of having a choice while they hadn't. But, it seemed this was only a small mercy at best.

Seishin showed no outward sign of his displeasure as he gathered his items. It dawned on him that, once again, he had little purpose other than simply going 'somewhere'. He didn't quite know where to start, what to do...but everything seemed better than to sit idly in this room. Perhaps ( ... )

While Kurogane noted the absence of his roommate, he chose not to linger on it. There were too many possibilities behind the reason Grell wasn't there, eve more now that Landel had returned. Whatever the reason, it was not his problem. He had his own problems to take care of ( ... )
