It was just so archaic. All of it.
She followed Max out into the hall; Susan was comfortable either leading or guarding someone's back. And since both of them were new here, it probably didn't matter who went first. Though at least Max had been out of the room before.
Besides, she though, How much does it matter when this is probably just all in my head anyway?

She glanced down the long hall of doors once more, hesitating. "And would you prefer we head out on our own or see if there are others in these rooms?"

She frowned. "Do you know anyone else here?" she asked. "It sounds like we can probably handle ourselves..." Though there was the idea that maybe some others that had been in her fleet were here.
