((from hereGinji felt a little better now that he had met someone else tonight and he was actually on the right track to getting to Kurama's room! Without even getting lost once

Kazuo woke from his nap, snacked on the remains of his dinner, and prepared for the night. Aside from his therapy session with Lecter, he hadn't left his room much, preferring to sleep and think alone. His snack of fugu and pate in Lecter's office was more than enough food for him. He'd spent a few hours plotting, trying to decide where to start so the rooms wouldn't be empty this time

Usopp jumped as the door opened behind him, and turned around, seeing his roommate awake for the first time. He quickly stepped aside, staring at the other man. That was one dangerous-looking crazy person. It was a good thing he'd armed himself...
Kazuo turned around. "Yet another roommate," he commented. Just what he needed, more useless kids in the room to dig through his stuff. This hospital seemed big enough; didn't they have space elsewhere? What a wierd looking one, at that, and jumpy. Kazuo said, "You scared? Just wait until the monsters show up."
Another? M-maybe the last one went home cured? "Monsters?!" The eyepatch guy who'd walked past was scary enough--the last thing Usopp needed was monsters running around! He firmly ordered his knees to stop shaking. This was an insane asylum... the roommate was probably just having delusions, or something harmless like that. "I--The great Captain Usopp isn't afraid of any monsters!" Realizing his voice was a bit high-pitched, he toned it down. "I've fought hundreds... no, thousands in my day. I just seem to be a bit misplaced now."
"Well, you ought to be just fine then," Kazuo replied flatly. "You have any weapons?"
Great captain? What did this guy think this place was, a boat? All of these people were weirder and weirder. He sounded kind of scared, with the squeaky voice and all.
Usopp cleared his throat a bit, still concious of that vocal misstep. "W-weapons? Well, I have some pens, a rubber band, this heavy metal light, a book..." He glanced down at his coat, where his treasures had been placed. Then, thinking, he added quickly, "I got it all off of my side of the room, though!"
Kazuo shrugged. He had less than Kazuo did. "You don't tough my stuff, I won't touch yours. Word of advice, if you see cats, the eyes are vulnerable. The roaches just jump on. All squishy and doesn't smell too good."
Kazuo checked his belongings again, and made sure the flashlight in his pocket was off. No use calling attention to himself. "Your name is...Usopp?"
"C-cats' eyes are vulnerable. G-got it." Usopp nodded. "Yeah, I'm the great captain Usopp. Who're you?" It was a little rude, but the other guy wasn't exactly the most polite... and distracted by the idea of monster cats, he was less frightened of the strange people around him. Even if the eyepatch guy ignoring him was a bit annoying.
If Usopp did see any monster cats, he planned to run. Not that he believed there were really monsters around--even if the other guy had commented on them--but just in case.
"Kazuo Kiriyama. What are you the captain of, exactly?" Kazuo was ready to get moving soon, but if he had to live with the guy he might as well get to know him a little.
"A pirate crew! I am the leader of eight thousand men! They all call me, 'our mighty captain Usopp!' At the drop of a hat, they will all risk their lives to defend me--but I always fight alone, because I cannot stand to see my crewmen hurt!" Momentarily lost in the lie-spinning, Usopp took a moment to return to reality. "I, um, seem to have lost my crew, though. And boat."
"So, were you going to try to escape?" Usopp asked, a bit probingly. It wasn't that he trusted the guy, who was obviously a little bit weird--anybody could look at his face and tell that--but it might be easier with someone else to partner with. And Usopp wasn't exactly the solo-battle type. If there were monsters, having someone who would enjoy fighting monsters would help a lot. "This is my first time out of the room, I don't know the layout at all."
"I'm just exploring right now. I don't know about escape. I just assume this is the next step in my training, so running away wouldn't help. I've been here two days, and I've explored some. Some of the rooms have things you can take. I'm making a map right now."
Kazuo didn't see the harm in letting him know that.
"Training for what?" Usopp tilted his head, curious. "Do you mind if I follow you a little way?" If the guy had explored and had a map, maybe they'd pass something that looked as though it'd either work as a weapon or an escape route. It beat wandering around cluelessly on his own.
Battle Royale? That... that sounded awesome, and extremely manly. Usopp found himself warming up to his new, creepy roommate.
"Which army do you join? The Marines?" Probably a local island-nation's army... still impressive.
"Thanks for letting me tag along!" Good to have someone else around. You didn't have to run faster than your enemy, just faster than the other guy; that was the saying, right? Well, he could cover Kazuo from behind anyhow. That was best for a sniper's tactics!

Kazuo was getting used to people not knowing about The Program, so he assumed Usopp would ask about it.
"Yeah, you can. I'm going to meet another person too, probably. Her name is Penelo." Good to have an extra shield around, anyway.
