Anise had only just finished taking inventory of her collected medicine when she heard the telltale sound of the door unlocking. Since this wasn't the first time night had started without any words from the General, she didn't think much of it. In an abstract, undefined way, Tear understood the capacity Landel's Institute held for immediate changes. As a soldier, she was equipped to switch methods and mindsets at a moment's notice. Emergencies to an intelligence officer with moderate experience in treating battlefield wounds were close to routine. But even she couldn't say she had expected what came next.

Alarms blasted through the stagnant air as the intercom breathed warnings and pressed commands. "Code Red" was an obvious moniker for an emergency measure, the extent of which Tear soon discovered. The walls, the furniture, the floor, even the handle across the doorway--they were instantly covered with a pink sheen. Examining the phenomenon brought nothing in terms of sense, though Tear had a feeling it existed as a barrier. From what remained to be seen.

To feel something altogether familiar.

In the blink of an eye, there was a rush of fonons. In the air. Beneath her skin. Passing through her fon slots. The same old reservoir of power resonated in the environment and all around her, as if Earth had a Planet Storm of its own, and Landel had simply hidden it from them all this time. Until now. The young woman purse her lips, wondering on her next moves.

Duties. Right. She had a loan to return, a reunion to experience, and people to protect. The shifts in the environment did nothing to change those. Swiftly, Tear moved down the hallway.
