Night 59: F11-20 Hallway

Anise had only just finished taking inventory of her collected medicine when she heard the telltale sound of the door unlocking. Since this wasn't the first time night had started without any words from the General, she didn't think much of it. She quickly grabbed her nighttime equipment: her meat tenderizer, flashlight, and Tokunaga. Her ( Read more... )

Ilia had jumped to her feet at the sounding of the alarm. That... that was not normal. What ever was here? Ilia hadn't the slightest, but she liked to think life could still have normal moments even in the night. Code Red. She would need to keep that in mind as she looked around, hoping the answer would reveal itself without too much searching.

Having loaded up, Ilia took her flashlight, gave Lana an encouraging smile, then moved out into the hall. She retraced her steps from last night, moving immediately to Rose's room, F11, and knocking politely on the door.

"Rose?" She inquired softly, but certainly loud enough for the girl to hear through the door. Ilia shifted uncomfortably on her feet. She hated the darkness that covered the institute, had hated it since her first night here. Tonight it seemed even more oppressive than before, or maybe it was just paranoia left over from the ominous announcements gifted to them that night.

Get it together, Ilia ol' girl! She couldn't afford to fall apart. Not on Rose! Tonight plans were being made and kept to, assuming someone precious friend hadn't been captured tonight as well.

This was more like it.  Weird red lights, ominous messages, and something felt different.  In the sense that normal felt exceptional.  Power crackled under her skin,  and her sylladex wasn't just back, but she could see the slots hanging open in their notspace metaphorical habitation.

She reached in, pulled out the empty modus, and flipped it to manual.  There.  One flick and she had decreased the chance of possession-showers by a whopping one hundred percent.

Maybe it wasn't ladylike to choose power over grace, but Rose had her priorities straight.  Her journal went in first, then flashlight and pillow.  The pillow wasn't strictly necessary, but part of the point of a sylladex was to cart around random crap, at least if her peers were to be believed.  Besides, Gamzee would be joining them.  She might need something to bury her face in to keep her mirth contained.

Ilia had arrived, in full mother hen mode,  cutting off Rose's contemplation of whether Gamzee's entire demeanor could be posited to be for the purpose of inspiring hilarity in others as a religious venture.  She chucked both pairs of needles in her strife deck and wedged in a pair of pens as well.

"This is rather familiar, wouldn't you agree?" she asked Ilia, without preamble or pleasantry.  She didn't stop walking, either, so any answer would have to catch up.
