Night 59: Intercom, ???

Oct 23, 2011 23:45

Only a few minutes passed before sharp alarms blared through the night air, shattering what little quiet was left. They were loud enough to shake a person to the core. But if that wasn't enough, a female automated voice suddenly spilled from every intercom in the building.

“Emergency. Emergency. EmmEERrrgencyyy....

Initiate CODE RED. Initiate CODE RED. Initiate CODE RED.”

As soon as I.R.I.S. gave that order, a soft pink glow rushed through the hallways, like the waves of a high tide coming in at full speed. It engulfed the walls, the floors, even covering specific objects that belonged to the institute, such as the chairs and beds inside the patient blocks. Not only that, but its influence reached beyond the immediate area. Anyone who looked outside would realize that the glow seemed to extend into the distant night sky.

Yet that wasn't all. Some who dared to venture out of their rooms would eventually find themselves being watched, stalked - and perhaps hunted.

Even once the voice died down, the alarms continued for several minutes more. And then, suddenly, an eerie silence clung to the air, leaving nothing but the strange sheen covering the building, and, for some of the more perceptive patients, a dark sense of foreboding.
