After an intercom broadcast like that, Kurogane felt somewhat better about the little information he'd gotten from Harrington the previous night. The man only sounded competent when he needed to but was an idiot otherwise. Unfortunately that was furthered proof of the General not employing the brightest of staff members, making another option for ( Read more... )

Riku considered her pin and wondered where it came from. Would she take kindly to the fact that he was asking? It was strange how he resented her earlier, but now she was testing the limits in a way that he hadn't considered. But he was in a position where he couldn't; one wrong move might mean he didn't wake up the next day. One wrong move might mean he didn't see his friends again. It wasn't that he was worried about himself-nothing could really make him see himself as someone who was worth worrying about, with all the pains he brought upon things-but he couldn't stand to leave them here.

But processing things the way he was now, he wondered how different this place was from the Organization, from even the way Ansem decided to use Naminé. In the end, it wasn't all that different.

"They just wanna use us as tools, huh. Soldiers for what they need to get done. Cannon fodder." Maybe that was why they took over. He thought back to the speech from the night he woke up, and he realized that was just the same kind of stuff he thought the Organization had to hear. It was too bad none of them were around anymore. He wasn't on great terms with Roxas, but he knew he could ask Sora to ask his Nobody to put things into perspective. Riku had a pretty good hunch, either way. "Use us up, and it doesn't matter what happens between now and then. It makes sense. The drugs. The speech. Of course they don't care. We're helping them out." The last bit came out a little lighter, almost cocky and mocking.

He smirked as he glanced toward her pin and focused on it again. "So how'd you get that? I can't say I like being so chained up."
