Utena was stopped just inside the door back to the block by radio static, both from ahead and from her own radio, clipped to the left pocket of her jacket. She lifted her arm instinctively, though it didn't help her hear much better; there wasn't much to hear, anyway, just gasping and breathing. Was someone running?

Then she heard that familiar voice, one she hadn't heard in person for days and days now but which she recognized instantly. "It's Marc," she said to herself, walking slowly forward. She listened for a few moments to him talking about Landel sleeping, his voice echoing through the short hall. It bounced off the walls from her hip and from two people standing ahead, a brunette and...

"Renamon!" Utena called out, jogging over to her and the other girl. "You're hearing this, right? That Marc-" She became quiet again as Marc continued on, moving into a tragic bit of news, and then a hint about where he was. Naturally, Urena's eyes widened at the last part in particular. "He's inviting people to find him..."

She looked up at the other two. "Do either of you know what town he's talking about?"

She shook off Tear's thanks. "It's fine. And you can keep the one, at least. It's better than nothing." Better than going without anything.

But that was all that could be said at the moment--as Tear pointed out, the radio went off, and Doyle's young replacement echoed out of the box. At the same time, Utena jogged over, pointing out the same. Renamon nodded to her, and then continued to listen. Most of which that was said could be inferred. There were 'missions', now, weren't there? Ones Renamon had been considering earlier. So one of the missions had been assassination, then. The Digimon's lips thinned. Was it that the ones on that mission didn't care, or that they had been forced to, as it seemed to have been said? The benefit of the doubt was fine, but Renamon knew firsthand how humans could be known to move.

The despondency in the man's voice was obvious, and for one supposedly supposed to inspire hope, it likely wasn't doing the job. She stared at the radio for a moment, then looked at Utena. "The ruins," she said blankly. "They're to the east of here." And were now, despite her injury, where Renamon wanted to go.

"Utena, this is Tear. She was going to accompany us, if that was fine. Tear, Utena." She glanced at the brunette girl, a questioning look in her expression. "However...." She looked between them. "How willing are you two to stop at the ruins first and see what this man has to say? We can still get to our main goal, time allowing."

Interesting, was what Tear could have said. Instead, she shook her head, both pity and exasperation in the same movement. The man--Marc, if memory served correctly--was their "friendly" contact from the outside world. Recently, he had had an unwanted visitor, had he not? Now the man was handling the death of a friend in addition to their former captor. A broadcast of this nature settled unwell with Tear, mostly because she realized how far the military was willing to go for their own agenda.

Utilizing patients... If the patients were composed of those experienced in the battlefield, she might have understood the logic. Here, with civilians involved, she felt close to disgusted.

Therefore, when their third companion (a girl with pink hair and a determined disposition) jogged up to their location, Tear instantly agreed to the line of logic. She was especially aware of exactly which "shell of a town" Marc had referred to as her group had attempted the same journey a few nights prior. "Some of my friends and I tried to get there several days ago so I have an idea of the direction you're talking about," she added.

When the introductions formed, Tear nodded to Utena, polite countenance in place. "It's nice to meet you," she said, before refocusing on Renamon. "I wouldn't mind a side trip." It sounded like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, after all, and between accomplishing an overall goal and a short-term goal, Tear would rather the first. Supplies at this point were secondary.

The east, the east... The forest was to the east of the institute, wasn't it? That made a lot of sense, then; she and Himemiya had first found Marc in that forest. Maybe his hideouts were all nearby it.

"Ah, yeah, good to meet you," said Utena quickly, giving Tear a nod and a look of acknowledgment. The other girl seemed calm and serious for her age, and made a good fit with Renamon in that way. Utena didn't dwell on introductions, though. No, she launched straight into exactly what she felt about finding Marc: "You bet I want to see him again. I want to see him and get him to tell me why I shouldn't punch him out for hooking up with Landel in the first place!"

She knew that was unfair of her, considering Marc had just lost someone. But damn it, she needed an explanation for that. How could he get in league with the very same man who had gotten him mangled so badly, and who was probably going to stab him in the back the first chance he got? She just didn't get it, and that really got her blood boiling.

Utena didn't wait, motioning for the other girls to follow. "Come on, let's go!"
