Night 57: Disciplinary Therapy Room 2 [M-U for Byrne Faraday]

To what lengths was a father willing to sacrifice for his daughter, with whom he shared that legendary bond that many claimed to be unique and unbreakable? This was something that the doctor had wanted to study for a long time, but until a few days ago, she'd had little opportunity here at Landel's. While there had certainly been many sets of patients with familial relations to each other, most of them were merely siblings. Other blood relationships, especially those between parents and children, were far and few between at the Institute -- and it seemed that the rarest of them all were father-daughter pairs. While there had been one such set here not long ago, neither member had been suitable for the purposes of the doctor's research.

No, she needed a father who was devoted to both his noble principles and his little girl, one who looked up to her daddy but also bore an irrepressible spirit and youthful optimism that sometimes got her into mischief. While the previous father-daughter pair, for all the perfection they professed, fell short of this doctor's criteria, the unconscious man strapped in the chair was just what the doctor was looking for. Even though his brat of a daughter had already left the Institute a few days ago, the fact that she had been here at all was sufficient, giving the doctor just enough of a chance to observe her remotely.

Like a vulture circling over its prey nearing death, the doctor paced around the chair, her arms clasped behind her back, as she waited for tonight's test subject to awaken. She could barely contain her grin at the thought of what she had in store for this "thief of truth." Once this was all over, Byrne Faraday would have quite a new appreciation for that which he upheld so dearly that it rendered him a hypocrite to his very own calling.
