from here]For as direct as they were being, Riku understood how much of this section of Landel's remained unexplored. They were so focused on acquiring the drug that it hadn't occurred to them to stop-or, if it had, it was a thought stopped by his frustration with his partner for the night. To think he pushed off some old man because he thought he

Gant had never given himself an injection before, not even in his wilder days as a youth had he tried it, but he knew the general idea. Nonetheless, he figured he could do it. Stick himself in the arm, inject the meds, and just be done with it. Easy as pie, right? Right...
"I would think if they had planned to kill us so easily, they would have done so before now," Gant said with a weary chuckle. The lack of bodies was definitely reassuring.
He shrugged his orange jacket half-off and rolled up the sleeve of the black shirt underneath. As well-muscled as he was, he didn't need to go looking for a good hunk of flesh to stick. And he wasn't planning on injecting directly into a vein if he could help it. Turning his arm down, he gritted his teeth and stuck the thing in, close to the elbow. He wasn't the type to faint at the sight of a needle, but forcing the liquid down into his arm himself was definitely making him a little light headed. Hands shaking, he managed to pull the empty syringe free and drop it to the ground, clapping his hand over the point of penetration before it could start bleeding everywhere.
"Erm, hurry up with that and we'll look for something to cover this and your cut." To Gant's merit, he managed to stay standing despite the dizziness. Damn. He would have thought he had more grit than this before now. This place was definitely making him soft.

Yes, like his new friend. ZEX watched on, perhaps with a little too much interest, as Gant prepared himself for the injection. Such smooth skin on his rigid arm! He could even see the human's muscles flexing underneath... beautiful. They were such stunning creatures...
He blinked a few moments when Gant spoke again, breaking him out of his reverie. "Oh... yes of course." Was Gant concerned for his wound? How sweet of him! Perhaps he could find a way to thank him for that later... but in the meantime, he had this vial of... something to deal with. Gant didn't seem to be injured or dying, although it was hard to judge the subtleties of expression in the dark, particularly with his eyes as week as they were. Everyone else was still standing...
This was probably a bad idea, but what did he have to lose at this point? He took a deep breath, and carefully tilted the vial's contents into his mouth. Human faces were really so inconveniently designed... he didn't want to tilt his head back, but had to for a few brief seconds. Ugh.
Well, that was that. Only thing to do now was wait and see if he'd regret this after all. He coughed, then attempted a smile at Gant. "I suppose that does it." Another cough. "How do you feel?"

The chief barely noticed the other's eye upon him during the process. He was still much too caught up in his own troubles to care much. He was not going to get sick from a little prick to the arm. He was not! Especially not when he was trying to make a good impression on the guy.
It looked like ZEX was also taking the dive after all. So nice of him to join Gant in the crazy venture. Gant was pretty sure they were safe, either way. Still, it had been unnerving, getting up the spirit to take the leap. "Not bad, actually. Just a little woozy." He squeezed the ache in his arm, slowly gaining control over himself again.
"Hope that medicine wasn't too bitter for you." He offered ZEX a grin. "Still standing, at least."
