Nigh 57: East Wing, Hall A

((From here.))Thankfully, they'd all been here long enough to know exactly where to find the greenhouse. Claude didn't think they'd have any problems navigating. The main issue was whether they'd find anymore surprise game shows, or if they'd have something more sinister to worry about ( Read more... )

Confident with the knowledge that he would be able to move forward without having to resort to the map again for a while at least, Vino continued on, switching the flashlight off. Not that it particularly mattered much right now, since more people seemed to be coming out to wander now. A few had already gotten to where he was.

Vino ignored them, though, moving onward at his own pace. The medical wing had to be that giant block of space marked "STAFF" on the map. Actually, now that he thought about it, he'd been in the medical ward for the past few days, hadn't he? Unfortunately, he never had a chance to figure out where exactly the medical ward was in the Institute, as they had transported him back to his room while he'd been sleeping, apparently. Perhaps the medical ward he'd been in might be this "Medical Wing" that the voice had mentioned...?

Vino suddenly paused, noticing a long, dark hallway to the left, splitting off from the main one he'd been in. He hadn't been down this way before, he was sure. Perhaps it held something of interest.

Vino considered for moment. From the number of people making their way past him towards the east side of the building, this side hall definitely wasn't part of the medical wing, he thought. Was it worth a look?

A few seconds later, he had slipped soundlessly into the other hallway, away from the gathering line of people in the main hallway heading to the medical wing.

What he found was a long hallway filled with doors on either side. Ah, interesting! Chances were looking better and better for Vino finding what he was looking for.

The area was unlit, but Vino had no intention of turning on the flashlight. After all, there was just enough brightness to make out plaques on the doors, which lead to the conclusion that these doors seemed to lead to offices. Perhaps doctor's offices?

Vino tried a doorknob, shook it a bit so that the door rattled in its place. Nope, locked. He tried another. Also locked. Perhaps if he tried hard enough, he'd be able to break down a door if he felt like it. But no, he decided it wasn't quite worth the effort. Putting an ear to a door and listening closely further proved this fact. There was no one in these offices right now. Vino need to find people, not empty rooms.

He continued on down, passing by all the doors with plaques, until he came to doors that seemed to lead to larger rooms. Perhaps one of these?

When he tried a doorknob, it turned easily enough, though he only had to open it a crack to realize that this also wasn't the place he was looking for. The room inside was dark and quiet. Too quiet. There was no one he was looking for here. Vino closed the door silently, going on to check the five other similar-looking doors, just in case. Each one yielded the same results. How disappointing.

A peek out the door at the end of the hall confirmed that it led outside. Vino had already decided that his business was inside the Institute today. Well then, wasted time aside, at least he'd cleared out a part of the map. He turned back to retrace his steps to the main hallway he'd come from.
