Aguilar should have saved his rant for someone who cared. Rita was sure she wasn't the only one who had zero sympathy and zero inclination to start treating him like some benevolent leader. He thought of them as rational beings, so they should be grateful? Did they also need to be grateful that he wanted to use them as test subjects? How about the part where he was still holding them all against their will? What a bunch of crap.
But, whatever. Rita had her own plans for the night, and they didn't involve taking the advice of some deranged general. She slipped her backpack on her back, her chain belt around her waist, and with her flashlight in hand, she was ready.
She stepped out into the hallway, though there wasn't much point in it. Instead of turning and walking towards the exit, she walked straight up to the wall across from her door. The hand she wore the portal ring on was balled into a fist, pulled back, and then sent slamming into the hard wall. A high pitched shattering sound rang through the hallway, and Rita's world become distorted.
