Not that he would ever want to push someone into doing that, but he did wish that he had a better idea of what it entailed so he could give better warnings to newcomers. He got the feeling he'd only find out if he ended up on the chopping block someday, though, and there was no way he was going to wish for that.
Peter wasn't surprised when Firo asked to come with him. The kid had been a little skeptical during their first talk, but he'd proved himself to be thoughtful during their chat in Doyleton. Peter smiled and nodded. "Sure. Just remember, we'll be dealing with people who just got finished being put through something horrible." It wasn't fun by any stretch of the word; for someone not used to seeing people suffer, it would be painful.
Figuring that Firo would follow if he wanted, Peter started for the stairs.
