However, Aguilar's voice was enough to pull his mind from his nighttime plans for at least a few moments. The announcement before night came was normal enough, but afterward they were all treated to a rant that grew progressively more intense.
It took Guy by surprise, seeing how the general had been so enigmatic up until now. An outburst of this sort probably meant that he'd been holding himself in for a while now, allowing it all to simmer before unleashing it like that. Either way, Aguilar was being more upfront with them than Landel ever had. If they proved themselves, they would be rewarded, and it sounded like such a chance would be given tonight.
However, even if getting pins might benefit Guy eventually, he'd already set his sights on whatever was hidden on the other end of the basement. He was curious to see if this whole drug thing was a trap or if it was genuine, but that was something he'd have to wait until tomorrow to hear about.
In any case, there was no time to spare. There never really was, but making it downstairs was difficult and they needed every second to do it. Once the announcement had finished and the doors opened, Guy grabbed for his sword, flashlight, and radio, nodding a quiet farewell to Okita before racing out the door.
