Having a portable source of light handy with him while wandering dark corridors was actually rather helpful, even if normally, Vino wouldn't have bothered with it

Then why? Aguilar wanted patients with use to him, and Edgar couldn't see Locke not being worth something to the general's cause, whatever it was. He sighed lightly- another question to which he wouldn't be getting an answer anytime soon.
"Two weeks," he answered. "Maybe a little over. Trust me, it's seemed like ages."
He paused, looking Locke over as best as he could in the relative darkness. Of course, he was missing the shears he'd been given on their first meeting in the institute- Edgar supposed this ought to count as a second first-meeting, as Locke wouldn't remember being given the shears without the knowledge he'd ever been there. "We'll need to get you a weapon. I know where we can find some suitable blades."

"A weapon would be great, I feel a little exposed without something. What's with this place, anyway? It's not normal, obviously, but beyond the fact that there're things you don't want to come across on your own at night and military during the day, I don't know much more than that."
Which, to be honest, bothered him. He was the guy that was supposed to find things out and he had barely found anything out at all. He hoped Edgar could at least tell him something new. Which reminded him-
"Also, where do you find those things?" He gestured to the flashlight. "I looked in the desk and under the bed, didn't seem to be anywhere you'd expect."

"The flashlight? Mine was under my pillow," he noted, looking behind him to the hallway before turning back. "It seems every patient gets some sort of a welcome package with this, a radio, and a few other necessities. Unless the military has decided to remove them, you should find yours there. We could go back and get it. Probably should go back and get it, rather. I can explain more about this place on the way."

Edgar was a strong person and Locke didn't doubt he could handle himself, obviously he'd been here much longer than the treasure hunter had, but, that didn't mean someone to watch his back would be a bad thing; not to mention it Locke didn't really know where he was going anyway.

But that was for later. "Where I was going can wait. Your light should come first. Then we can run a quick errand I have that will keep us in the relative safety of the patient blocks, then we'll find a weapon for you." They needed to get moving- as far as Edgar knew, no hallway was truly safe.
With that, he headed down the hallway Locke indicated.

"An acquaintance of mine has left something for me to pick up in her room," Edgar continued as they passed through the hallway. He walked quickly, knowing the night ended too often without warning- if they were to visit Anise's room, then try to make it to the shed in the courtyard, they had a lot of ground to cover.
At least the walk would give them time to catch up. Even if Locke had remembered his time at the institute, there would have been a lot to discuss. Edgar counted himself fortunate to be given a second chance with at least one of his comrades.

Even if their current situation was dark and dangerous, Locke couldn't help but tease, if at the very least, for the familiarity of it. Even if he'd only been here for a day, he'd been worried about seeing his friends again the more he realized just how stuck they all were here.
"Mind if I ask what this thing is?"

And whether there was a reason for that or not, Edgar couldn't tell. He'd always just suspected that was the way Landel played.
