Nightshift 56: Bill's Hardware

[from here]

After dashing over to the hardware store, it was Yomi’s turn to shatter the lock, allowing them access inside. Here, she took out her flashlight and used it to light the aisles, aimed in such a way as to minimize how much showed through the windows. If the noise didn’t draw something, the light probably would. Nightshifts were no place for light.

“I always thought extreme regeneration would be a thing of the future,” she mused, returning to their earlier thread. Half true. A girl’s silly thoughts, abandoned as time went on. But to Albedo, something that could defy nature was clearly the opposite of silly. “Can you rebuild your body from nothing?” If he was going to insist on learning more about her, she could return the questions.

As she spoke, she was moving toward her first requirement: a large storage bag like Albedo’s that she could transport objects in. Having had ample time to memorize the store layout, Yomi knew exactly where to go to start filling the bag.

Still so far, so good.
