Night 56: Cafeteria

Jun 12, 2011 16:19

[from here]So far so good. They'd made it to the cafeteria without either of them getting attacked or horribly maimed (again) or anything. Now if they could just get as far as the kitchen without anything else happening? Wally would count this night a win ( Read more... )

The kitchen...? Sora wasn't sure what Venom needed in there, but maybe he was looking for a knife or something. It wasn't a bad idea if they were planning to go all the way into the forest. The boy was pretty sure they'd end up getting attacked there if they weren't ambushed on the way.

The man headed off before Sora could even think to follow, and while he was concerned that Venom would get pounced by something while he was in there, it didn't sound like he would be very long. Sora could focus on getting one of the locks open and then that would be taken care of by the time Venom got back.

And if he took too long, then Sora would go after him.

Nodding to himself, the boy moved to the door on the right side of the cafeteria, trying not to think about how large the room was and how something could be watching him out of the shadows at that very second. He wished that he could force his Keyblade to materialize, but no matter how hard he concentrated, it refused. No surprise there.

Instead, Sora was going to have to use his flashlight. Spinning it around in his hand so that the back end was facing forward, the boy started banging at the lock to weaken it. A few hits did a good enough job, and after that he just had to rely on his own body strength.

Taking a couple steps back, Sora gave out a war cry and raced forward to ram the door with his shoulder. So much for making as little noise as possible.

[Back from over here. Hi there.]

Venom had already been exiting the kitchen door, metal pan swinging back and forth at his hip, but it was that scream that stabbed adrenaline into his heels and forced him to sprint full force into the cafeteria. He'd only left for a second, nothing could have happened that quickly! What the hell was...?!

"Sora!"

The distinct thump of something heavy pounding against a door (especially that door. He remembered having to slam through it himself) did nothing to slow his feet, not until he was finally close enough to examine the situation himself. There was... nothing else in the room. There were no signs of danger. He was just opening the door.

The spike of worry evaporated into the air along with the exasperated sigh he let out, and Venom soon retook his place at the smaller person's side. His free hand itched to thwomp the kid on the back of his head, but respect held him back. The tired stare he was now receiving would have to do.

It looked like one round of using his shoulder as a battering ram just wasn't going to be good enough. Luckily, Sora had expected that. He backed away from the door, wincing and rubbing at his shoulder with his free hand. This was one of the most tedious yet painful things about traveling through the institute.

When he heard Venom's voice call for him, the boy spun around, wondering if something had happened. The older man looked to be just fine, though -- and he was carrying... a frying pan?

Okay, not the coolest weapon ever, but it was probably better than nothing. The man looked kind of annoyed, but Sora wasn't sure what about and figured that it was probably just Venom being Venom.

"Almost got it open!" he explained, turning to face the door again as if it was a mortal enemy. He raced toward it again, and this time the force of his body slamming against it was enough to break the lock clean open. The boy tumbled out.
