Night 56: Main Hallway, 1-Center

Jun 02, 2011 13:52

[ from here]Tolten tried to seem confident as he took the lead, proceeding further into the dark corridors. There had been nothing overtly threatening so far, but his heart was racing in his chest even so. He couldn't shake a sense of lurking danger, of shadowing hidden fear. He tried to tell himself he was being foolish, but experience told him ( Read more... )

[From here]

He shouldn't have been considering what he was about to do. The Sun Room proved again and again to be dangerous when night fell. His goal had only been to repay that woman for his mistake and check on his Master's well-being, not endanger Sora or himself. This was an idiotic idea. This was an idea that would go nowhere and would ultimately be a waste of everyone's time. He should have turned to the doors Sora had suggested earlier instead of turning to the doors across from them. He should not be doing what he was going to do.

Unfortunately, he couldn't bring himself to care about what he should or shouldn't do. He knew where Landel was. Even if he couldn't kill him, even if he needed to stay his hand for the benefit of that bastard's knowledge, Venom was going to hurt him. In the very least, he wouldn't need his vocal cords to live, and Venom had no issues arranging that procedure. God knew everyone in the institute would agree with that ( ... )

For the first time this night, Venom had decided to take the lead. Even though the man said that they had a change of plans, they were still going the same direction, except that now Sora had to struggle to keep up. Clearly hearing Landel on the radio had given Venom an idea, but Sora didn't know what it could be and he doubted that it was a good idea ( ... )

Sora didn't understand the implications of that message, did he...? "We-- I'm going into the forest," Venom answered simply, his back having turned again to the boy. He hadn't run off yet, however, instead opting to peer cautiously through the opened doors ahead of them, fingers curling tightly against the door frame ( ... )

The forest? Sora still wasn't completely following, and he tried to study the other man's face for some sort of explanation, but once again that proved impossible. Either way, it definitely seemed like they would be going to the Sun Room to get to the forest, but Sora was still trying to grasp whyLuckily, Venom went on to clarify not too long after that, and Sora put a hand to his chin as he thought it through. So Landel and Marc were in the forest? That sort of made sense, since the forest was where Hanatarou had originally found Marc, but how would they have been making radio broadcasts from there? It would have required having some sort of weird technology, which Sora realized was completely possible in this place ( ... )

To be perfectly honest, Venom had been expecting an argument. 'There's no way you can run out there now,' he could hear Sora say. After the short lecture he received when he'd proposed going to the nearby town, he pictured another show of level-headedness that a part of him frankly refused to believe could come from a boy with Sora's sunny disposition. He could never imagine the teenager hunting down a human being for the sake of revenge, meaning this should have sounded mad ( ... )
