[M20]There had been no orders from Sora as far as Kratos was aware of; it gave him cause to worry only because he tended to do poorly without some sort of direction or objective. This might have persuaded him to indeed take the night off again, but he had by some miracle managed to finish all of his dinner, and it had granted him enough - or at

So where to now? Well not the (supposed) basement, obviously, especially after a speech like that. Was it really wise to listen to the guy who used to be in charge around here? Of course not. Even Byrne knew better than that. There were other areas he was more interested in investigating, anyway. They were better off ignoring that lunatic all together.
"First off," he said, crossing his arms, "where have you been around here at night? The farthest I've gotten is one of the doctor's offices on the other side of the building. I have yet to see what's upstairs or outside." Except last night where he went the wrong way and found the door to the rec field. But he never actually went out there, so that didn't count.

"Just to the rec field. I know it's possible to get over the walls, and there's a second floor, but no idea beyond that." He tapped his stick, pondering. "Might as well spend this round exploring. A lot of people are just trying to get out of the institute, but there's really no point. We know it's not our world, one way or another. We can't walk home." And his conversation with Lana was still weighing heavily on his mind. It wouldn't be enough to just escape to his own time and place. Badd needed to go to the right time and place.
Landel hadn't pulled them all here out of kindness, but if whatever he'd done could be reversed...there was his second chance. He could make the world right.

Kay was the first thing that flashed through Byrne's mind when Badd said those words. She had escaped over those walls two nights ago, but if this wasn't their world, then...then...
No. Somehow she would be okay. She would find a way back. She would. Byrne winced as he tried to ignore all the negative thoughts; but unfortunately for him, he didn't realize how obvious the gesture was until a few moments after he did it. He instantly tried to look as if nothing were wrong, despite the fact that Badd probably would have seen that (and might've even understood why he made the gesture in the first place).
"Then let's get moving," he said, trying to think of things that didn't involve his little girl being in danger in any way.

"Moving where, exactly?" he asked, shutting the door up behind them. He had his flashlight, of course, but the notebook was tucked into his pocket with the radio. This place didn't give you a coherent map.

Whether Badd agreed to go there or not, Byrne turned and started walking so they could at least get moving somewhere. It was better than standing around here any longer.
