Night 56: West Wing, South Hall 1-B

[From here.]Being down this way certainly did nothing for Peter's nerves. The last time he had come near this part of the hospital was when him and Harry...yeah. Right about there was where the shapeshifters came in ( Read more... )

Once Anise reached a less populated hallway, she realized that the light from her miniature flashlight wasn't as strong as her old flashlight's. It was still bright enough to be helpful to her, and the fact that it was small and barely weighed anything was a big plus, but she couldn't see as far away with it.

Oh well. At least she still had a decent amount of light, and having a free hand was definitely worth the compromise. Now, if she got in a fight, she could just pocket the light instead of having to stash it somewhere and hope she'd have time to retrieve it. Climbing walls would be easier, too!

Keeping an eye out for monsters, Anise continued to the next hallway.

Faye's patience was beginning to wear thin. Not that it was ever one of her greatest virtues to start with, but being in this situation had caused it to deplete to unprecedented levels.

Another hallway, and no exit. No answers. Hell, she hadn't even really seen another person around. It was just a maze of dark, quiet hallways, and each corner turned was more frustrating than the last.

But, nevertheless, she was determined to find something. Anything. Whatever this place was, she had no intention of staying here. Not if she had anything to do with it.

Her breaths now escaping in aggravated huffs, and her steps practically morphing into stomps, she continued on her way, spotting another opening. Hopefully the next hallway would provide something of use to her.

Tonight, Erika was really hoping some progress was going to be made, or else she was going to have take some drastic measures. Having to rely on other people was something the detective greatly disliked, even moreso because she physically needed their presence to advance. Even Sync, who proved himself to be useful, was a thorn in her side simply because she was technically under his mercy. He was useful, but that ring he had was the only real reason she bothered with him. If she could just get it from him...

Surely, it wasn't a unique object. Perhaps someone else, someone easier to get rid of, had a ring like it. She was going to have to do some investigation tomorrow, depending on how things went.

Two hallways later Morgan was edging along the wall, assessing potential threats by the glow of someone else's flashlight until she realized it was just another boring, empty hallway. Big surprise. At least the rats had been a change of pace.

Maybe they'd get lucky and run into some good action later. As much as she liked doing rather than planning, though, Morgan was willing enough to settle by the entrance to the main hallway and wait for Guybrush. As long as he wasn't stopping to talk to everyone in sight or find out what happened when he put a hairbrush inside a tuba, he usually made pretty good time.

[From here.]The way to the female halls was the same as always, though Guybrush himself felt different. It had to be the sense of purpose he had: he'd be getting files for both Elaine and LeChuck, and hopefully, some closure about their disappearances along with them. There was always the chance that Aguilar and Landel were still holding the two of them somewhere, but it was far more likely that Elaine had taken control of her own fate and escaped- or at least that's what the optimistic side of him said (and the logical side, too, since that was what Elaine usually did ( ... )

Even in the dark, Morgan would have spotted that sash anywhere. Not to mention all the stuff. Guybrush could seriously stand to learn the art of traveling light, especially since his pants weren't as expansive as usual.

"Yeah. Here, take these first." She forked over the two files for Mr. Mighty Cargo Hold™ to take care of. "The information's useless, but at least you could show the pictures to people. I doubt anyone would forget that stupid beard."

Well, playing messenger had been half the goal for tonight. Might as well get cracking on the other half. Readying her sword, Morgan led the way into the main hall.

[from here, skipping F-A Block]

She passed two kids in the hall, having the intense kind of conversation that probably was about life-and-death stuff, instead of teenagers just feeling like it was, and gave them a suitably wide berth for their privacy's sake. Leela might have been enthused about getting the genuine teenage experience when she'd had the chance, but that had been with twentysomething years' worth of knowledge still in her brain. She couldn't keep from feeling kind of sorry for anyone who had to deal with being here and being awkward, entirely hormone-fueled, and too young to drink.
