[From here.]Right as he'd been leaving the block, Harvey had come across none other than Peter. Not that it could really be called that when they hadn't even talked to each other, but seeing the kid had answered a few questions. First of all, it seemed that Peter wasn't planning on going down to the basement, both because he hadn't approached him ( Read more... )

Her spirits lifted, Anise was back to her usual, cheery self. She understood the gravity of the situation perfectly well, but there wasn't any harm in acting optimistic. If they went into danger full of gloom and dread, they'd be in bigger trouble than if they stayed calm and kept positive.

It was time for another decision to be made, but this one wasn't nearly as severe as the last one. To Anise, making a minor choice like this was like a breath of fresh air.

She looked to Guy, noting that he was wearing a jacket tonight, then to Claude, who had his usual light jacket on. Anise herself was dressed in the black leather outerwear that the military had provided. All in all, they were prepared to deal with a little cold weather. "It looks like we're ready to go outside anyway, so... how about we take the Courtyard tonight?" she suggested.

If they didn't make it all the way there, they could take a different route the next night, but for now it seemed convenient. It was closer, like Claude said, and the cold probably wouldn't bother them too much. It was their best bet... assuming they wouldn't get attacked on the way.

At this point, after they had spent so much time trying to decide whether or not to head down into the basement again, Guy agreed that the faster route would be best. That would definitely mean going out onto the field, seeing how they were right by the door that would take them out. And Anise had a point: they were already dressed to bear the cold weather, so why not make use of it?

It didn't seem like anyone was going to protest that decision, and all of them had climbed the recreational field's wall their fair share of times. Guy didn't foresee any problems there; it was the possibility of a Special Counseling patient that was a greater worry.

Still, that was unavoidable and they would just have to face it if it came up. Nodding to the others, Guy turned toward the door. "Courtyard it is, then."

As he reached forward and the opened the door, a blast of ice-cold wind hit him with a surprising amount of force. It actually felt refreshing in its own way, but maybe that was because Guy had the jacket on as a buffer. "C'mon," he called back to the others as he stepped out.
