Night 56: M41-M50 Hallway

[M41]

If there was one thing the coup improved, it was the intercom announcements. Nothing long-winded, no rantings of a mad man. Short, efficient, or better yet, nothing at all.

Thank God for little miracles, McCoy thought sourly. Then he scowled. How sad was it that this was the kind of thing he looked forward to now? If he didn't feel like ( Read more... )

The clicking of the doors brought the Scarecrow's thoughts to a halt, his head turning to eye the silent intercom for a second. It seemed odd for there not to be a nightly announcement, but perhaps General Aguilar was busy (concocting something wicked for the patients, no doubt). Even curiouser was the second click that followed the unlocking of the doors- the Scarecrow was sure he'd heard another, but there was a chance he'd simply imagined it. His mind had had an active day, after all ( ... )

Tonight wasn't likely to be overtly taxing- they didn't have anything specific in mind, as far as he was aware, and Edgar wasn't going to be physically up to anything too strenuous after the night he'd had- but even so Lunge was careful to take his time in preparing himself. Flashlight (batteries freshly changed), hunting knife, radio, old clothes. With Dent's back turned as he lay prone on the bed, he didn't even think about changing; not that he would ordinarily have been shy, of course, but it made it easier for the both of them ( ... )

Dinner hadn't been terribly eventful, which wasn't such a bad thing. After what the staff put Mason through, they needed some quiet. It was just too bad the military fed a lot of the patients that nasty slop. There was no way Claude could let Mason go without normal food, so he always felt like he needed to share.

At any rate, now was the time to focus on tonight. Having changed into his uniform and collected his sword, Claude moved toward the door. Leon's absence still weighed heavily on his mind, but he hoped he could possibly get some answers later down the road. Until then, he couldn't afford to let himself mope around too much. What if Leon was really around? He didn't want to prematurely give up on the boy.

After wishing Mason a good night, Claude stepped out into the hallway.

Byrne had been silent the whole evening, spending his dinnertime staring unhappily at the tray on his desk. Thankfully, the Swiss rolls he'd eaten earlier had helped fill his stomach just enough to skip out on a meal. God knows Swiss rolls were better than this crap, anyway. Not to mention there was too much to worry about at the moment. He hadn't even been able to find the motivation to write in his journal, as much as it probably would have benefited him. He just hadn't cared ( ... )
