Day 56: Megahit Movie Rentals (Early Afternoon)
After he and Peter had parted ways, Firo had finished his circuit around town-only taking a break to use a coupon for lunch when he'd located the Twin Pine restaurant. After seeing all there was to see on the streets, it had been time to decide on a store to investigate more thoroughly.
His goal was to find something useful, of course-like he'd mentioned to Peter a knife was probably out, but something like the bag the other New Yorker had suggested would have its merits... Maybe even just something like rope would be good, or maybe scissors-ah, but that might draw suspicion, even if most people didn't use shears the way the Gandors' torture specialist did.
But despite his goal being to find something useful, it was no match for Firo's curiosity. Across the street from the hardware store he'd been planning on visiting was a building labeled 'Megahit Movie Rentals'.
At first he'd thought it was a theater-there wasn't a marquee announcing what was being shown, but he wasn't sure if small-town theaters advertised the same as the ones in the city. But that didn't account for the rental part; how was someone supposed to rent a movie?
He could look for something at the hardware store later. Firo made his way into Megahit, not sure at all what he'd find... But rows of small boxes lining shelves hadn't been it. He headed for the nearest row, bending over to get a better look at a box.
