"Evidently not, else I would be." Soren shot him a look. "In case you hadn't noticed, I was made to sit here. However stupid you think me, I'm not about to argue with armed soldiers."
Not without back-up, anyway, and he was unlikely to get enough of that to even consider taking action. He wasn't even going to start an argument with Depth Charge, regardless of the likelihood of the soldiers bothering to interfere with anything non-physical. After multiple nights achieving almost nothing, he needed allies, and he couldn't afford to be picky.
Soren took a breath. "My apologies for the other day. I didn't mean to anger you."
Which was as much of an apology as anybody here was ever likely to get out of him, considering Ike wasn't around to prompt him and Soren was usually more than adequate at dealing with people unable to look him in the eye. He could apologise easily enough for reactions, because they were out of his control. Apologising for something that he said or did would imply he held some sort of regret, which would in turn imply that he cared. Mad as this place was, Soren wasn't quite ready to start caring about any of the other patients, short of caring about how he could use them to his advantage against the institute.
