Twelve. A common number, echoing through time with the passing of months and cases of wine-bottles, but not an unfitting one.

Wait a minute. Hadn't there also been twelve trolls? Perhaps the two societies had more in common than she'd been led to believe. Perhaps not.

What was this about a glow? It took Rose a moment to realize he was speaking figuratively. Oh. As no other luminescence was present, he must mean the flashlight.

"I thought it lent a festive air to the proceedings."

She switched off the light, throwing caution to the winds. The dark was a jarring change, when she should be looking out across her realm of Light right now,

"Is that better?" It was intended as a rhetorical question, but like so many of her words, twisted as she spoke them. This one towards a higher truth. And so, with its travails, darkness brought information. The door at the top of the stairs was faintly limned, pale moonlight seeping between the cracks. It was still not enough to see by, but Rose had planned for that. She ( ... )

[From here.]

The stairwell was dead silent, but that was usually how they were except for the very beginning of the night. Sora didn't think too much of it, but the faster they got up there, the better.

Still, he didn't want to leave his two friends in the dust (Roxas counted as a friend, right?), so he didn't speed up too quickly. Instead he glanced over his shoulder at both of them. "So was there anything in particular that you guys were looking for?" he asked. He'd been to a number of supply rooms already, so he might have a better idea of what to hit up first if he got a list.

Rukia, huh? It sounded like a name (at least it didn't sound like anything else) so it seemed that was where Kairi had gotten the sword. It looked pretty wicked, to be honest, but it was probably a lot better than walking around with absolutely no defense at all.

Roxas nodded his assent when Sora decided the new game plan, complacent with at least getting a little something done rather than trying to hack at a door all night (and maybe losing a finger or two). He didn't have any needs that he could think of though, which made answering Sora's question a little difficult.

"I don't need anything. The only thing I needed was some batteries for the flashlight, but we found some in the janitor's closet." And what else did he have? A gun, of course, but he had no idea what to get for it or if it needed anything else, and he definitely didn't know how to use it. "Um. What about some bandages or something? Someone always seems to need those around here."
